It's now after 10:30pm. Is it possible that the whole 4lbs will go by tomorrow morning?

Yes, it's possible. You know you're heavier at the end of the day than you are in the morning, yeah?0

Why are you weighing yourself multiple times a day?
The body fluctuates in weight throughout the day. Food, drinks, waste, clothes, hormones, etc are all things that are going to make your weight shift throughout.
If you're going to weigh daily, do it only once, and do it at the same time.
Most people weigh first thing in the morning after bathroom, but before eating. Some prefer to do it naked, others will do it with clothes on.0 -
why are you stepping on the scale multiple times per day. I assume you've eaten today and have taken in fluids? You know the food you eat and the drinks you drink have mass right? Thus they have weight and that weight shows up on the scale.
You need to educate yourself about natural body weight fluctuations...and stay off the scale. Most people can and do fluctuate 2-5 Lbs throughout the day and from day to day. Your body weight isn't a static thing.0 -
It's not tonight I'm worried about, it's tomorrow morning and the scales still showing that I'm heavier than I was today.0

Again...you need to step away from the scale and educate yourself on natural body weight fluctuations. Your weight will always be up and down...your weight isn't static and weight loss isn't linear. You need to track the overall trend and stop worrying so much about the weigh in to weigh in numbers.0 -

Is the world going to end if it doesn't come off tomorrow? Why are you so worried about it? And again, why are you weighing yourself multiple times a day?
Even if you were 4 lbs heavier than you thought, don't put time constraints on weight loss. Consistence, patience and a calorie deficit will see them off.
Stop worrying about tomorrow and focus on today.0 -
Because usually when I weigh myself at night I get an idea of what I'll weigh tomorrow, and by the looks of things I'm gonna be at least 1.5lbs heavier tomorrow than I was this morning. 4lbs seems a lot to vanish overnight that's what I'm worried about0

Even if it doesn't come off tomorrow, that doesn't mean it won't come off in the following days. You need to have more patience and also learn about how the body reacts with things like sodium, carbs, or even hormone changes.

I also weigh myself quite frequently - sometimes several times a day - just because I find it really fascinating to see how my weight changes through the day. And that helps me to relativise how things look through the week. So my last 12 days' morning weigh-ins (I don't record my evening ones) were (in kg): 76.6, 77.5, 78.0, 77.3, 77.1, 77.7, 77.7, 76.3, 76.3, 75.8, 75.9, 75.6.
You can see that these figures vary up and down by a 1 or 2 lbs (1kg=2.2lb) several times over those few days. So you might weigh 1.5 lbs more tomorrow, and that is most likely just to be part of your natural cyle of weight loss. What matters (assuming you are trying to lose weight) is that the highs get lower and the lows get lower too.

I'm always weighing myself too, sigh I want to ditch the scales but it's so hard as I'm too dependent on it

Same here! And I was exactly right. I'm exactly 1.5 lbs heavier than I was yesterday morning. Complete mood killer!

You do realise that this is going to happen quite a lot, don't you? It is natural for your weight to fluctuate. (See my post above.)0

This is why I refuse to buy a scale. I'll weigh myself once every two weeks maybe, at the gym, and otherwise I leave it alone. It's too easy to become obsessive about it. lol. Weight change isn't linear, as someone mentioned.

Never weigh yourself at night. your not getting the true body weight your also weighing all the water and food you have had. In the morning you have a better chance of the weight being more accurate (I dont really want to go into details - lets say nature has taken its course through the day and your bowel and bladder are likely to be emptier). And only weigh once a week.0
-
one more thing - weight isnt the only way to measure how your doing. BMI is important but be careful that your focusing on weight to the exclustion of say hight / waist ratio or how much weight is lean mass - remember on the BMI body builders are "obese" yet in reality they are fit.0

The scale is a tool we have in weight loss but it's not the authority. What if you retain water? What if you get sick and can't hold anything down? Does that automatically mean a big loss or huge gain for you because it shouldn't. It's a naturally occurring event and fluctuations in weight WILL happen as we lose.
I would concentrate more on not weighing multiple times a day or even week and just doing once weekly weigh ins. You can set up the same outfit to weigh in with or same time of the morning etc and control it for better accuracy. But honestly you can eat the same thing every day for 2 weeks. Do the exact same exercises and activities and one week you could lose more (or less) than the other. And that's normal.

Weighing all the time is going to drive you nuts. I think best to go at least two weeks or longer between weigh ins. Unless you're constantly, and excessively, going not just over your target, but over your maintenance calorie level, weight should be decreasing.
Also, make sure you're not constipated.0 -
I've gained 3lbs in one week. Sorry but that's not normal. I'm giving it one more week before I give up completely. If I'm gonna gain weight I may as well ENJOY it, I'm feeling really low about it but too annoyed to wanna bother carrying on.0

Many years ago,I weighed 350 lbs.I went on a 1500 calorie a day diet suggested by my doctor(I know that was too few calories, but this was 25 years ago).I followed it to a tee.I went back a month later and I had gained 3lbs.!He saw the deveistation on my face and asked me."So, are you feeling better?"I said,"Well yeah"..."Is your belt looser?" "Well, yeah.I have lost 3 notches."Then don't worry about the scale."That is just one tool and believe me, it will catch up."He was right ...Remember,it's a lifestyle change, not a"diet"...I still fall into the trap, but then I realize how ridiculous it sounds to step on an inanimate object and let it dictate my day and how I feel about myself.I know if I am taking care of myself or not and no number on a scale changes that fact.I know it's hard and can be addictive, but like my doctor said," It's just a tool, don't give it so much power over you!"...Don't give up! A year later I had lost 130 lbs. and I am not special! You can do it,too!0

youre one of those people who doesnt need to own a scale0

yes it is but you are one of those people who think they know better than those who have been down this road and KNOW what they/ we are talking about.
if youre going to give up over 3 pounds, you are not cut out for a lifestyle change for the better.
PS: youre probably eating way more than you think you are.0 -

you are obsessing over scale weight ..
weigh yourself three times a week and take a rolling average…
or
weigh yourself once a week at the same time every week, that is what I do….
your weight naturally fluctuates 2-5 pounds a day based on how many dumps you take, peeing, eating, and a host of other functions….0 -

wait….so if you still weight three more pounds then you are going to give up and then two weeks from now you will weight six pounds more..??
this can't be serious, I call troll….0 -

I've been down this road before thanks and never experienced these problems, which is WHY I'm so confused. I also don't think I know better which is why I'm trying to get all the help I can. Also I am not eating way more than I think I am. I know exactly what I'm eating, which again, is why I'm so confused.
But to everybody else... I FEEL and IMO, LOOK bigger? In such a short space of time. I rely on the scales just to at least see if I'm on track and at the moment I'm not. It clearly isn't fat, I know that, I know for some reason I'm gaining water weight or something but I don't get why when I drink water constantly, sodium/sugar is low etc etc etc. If the scales were going up and I was still looking and feeling good I wouldn't care AS much but I can see and feel the extra weight and it IS upsetting. I dunno maybe I will put the scales away for a while and check back in a few days. It is hard to resist tho.0
