So I'm fairly new to the whole lifting weights. Maybe about a month in. I also incorporate HIIT with my weightlifting. However, I feel like my legs look slimmer rather than more muscular. Is it common to burn off the fat THEN start building muscle. How does that work?? Also... any good recommendations for lower abdominal tightening? --> Thanks awesome ppl! :)

Burning fat is revealing the muscle underneath. You won't build muscle (except for Noob gains) in a deficit. Also you cannot spot reduce.

I understand the spot reducing. I work on a body part a day. My legs is where I'm noticing the difference in size though. (Shoulders too :))

Fat loss is much faster than muscle gain

I don't completely understand your question either...but I'll explain it this way: I went from a size 10 to a size 2 with a year and a half of lifting. My legs look both smaller and more muscular. Does that make sense? And as far as your stomach...a lot of that is going to be food related.

You answered my question by saying "burning fat is revealing the muscle underneath"

Basically I was asking, if it's normal for your body to become slimmer before you see muscle definition?
What I got from your response is yes, I will slim down before seeing muscle gains. Am I correct?

    That's amazing! Thank you!
