Is there a way to enter your own foods skipping the database?

I know you can enter things into the database, but I'm speaking of just opening my food diary and manually entering what I'm seeing on labels withOUT dealing with the tedious and slow database process altogether. I add quick calories, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add quick carbs, quick cholesterol, quick fat grams, etc. Is there a way to do that?

If you have a label and are using a phone app you can scan the barcode. Even when I have a computer near my I use my phone app to enter food it is easier to just scan the barcode and go.0

Not really. There are (or should be) "add" entries for most nutrients in the database (I created one for myself for potassium), but you would still have to go through the database. I guess if you created your own database entries for the various nutrients, they should then show up under your "my foods" tab (and under your "recent" and "frequent" tabs once you start using them) -- you wouldn't actually have to go into the database then. I think I would find it confusing to keep track of what I had already entered and what I hadn't if everything was just reduced to calories and nutrients, with no food names, but whatever works for you.0

I'd like to enter the food, the meal, the values myself, but it takes so long weeding through the database and trying to find one that has the right measurement and even creating it myself. I think I"ll just create an Excel spreadsheet. I have a phone, but it's grandfathered into an old cell plan for like $20/mo. that I only use for emergencies. I know nothing about apps. lol Thank you for the responses. I appreciate you taking the time!0

I was figuring calories for a snack and started typing it into my log when I glanced up and saw there was some sort of black box asking "How long does it take you to....." like a survey from MFP. It disappeared once I hit a key though and am curious as to what it was asking, i.e. about how long to enter foods, etc.? lol0

I think there is a way to create your own entries...no? Just create a new recipe under the "Recipe" tab.0

To skip the database altogether and just straight up enter it into my own profile. Oftentimes, since everything I cook is from scratch, I have to pick and choose measurement units that aren't as listed on the package. Otherwise, I spend way too much time scanning the existing database trying to locate something that matches. The last time I tried to create my own recipe, it took some of the ingredients, but not others, then locked up....I need to spend time away from the computer to lose weight.0

I always add my own food to my database. I also add recipes too to figure out the nutritional data per serving.0

To add your own food items, you still have to search the database, but then scroll down below the "matching food items" box and you'll see "Can't find what you're looking for? Add a food to the database" Choose the link. It will bring you to this page: myfitnesspal.com/food/submit?. Any foods that you add will show up under "My Foods".0
