ready, steady go !

Don't get mixed in with the wrong crowd. People with disordered thinking only want to hurt you instead of help you.

That what works for some may not work for me, and vice versa. There is a lot of judgment on who's woe is "right", don't fall into that trap.

Overall: "Negative calorie food" is a lie.

More specifically "fitness": Have a backup hobby for when you push yourself too hard and get hurt.

Try things you don't think you can do now and then. You might surprise yourself.

Before what? Starting MFP? Probably that I don't need to do as much cardio as I thought I did. It would have got me into the gym more.

I wish I had started strength training immediately. I got so caught up with cardio. Now? I devote two days to body weight exercises- push ups, planks, hand stands, etc.

I also wish I'd known to start lifting sooner. At the time I thought I couldn't because of chronic joint pain. If I'd gone ahead and started that would have gotten better sooner and I'd have had a lot less work to do after reaching goal weight (much easier to just keep it in the first place than to try to put it back on after it's gone).

Probably wouldn't overtrain. It's much better to do a bit and come back in a couple days than do a bunch and you're out for weeks healing.
  • That weird foam roller thing in the corner of the gym isn't weird. It's heaven in a cylinder after a work out.

As you get older you have to do more---not less.

Not understanding the amount of effort you must exert to actually burn a decent amount of calories. People grossly overestimate their calorie burns...you don't burn calories just because you were physically IN the gym for an hour..you need to be hauling a** the whole time. That said, do it for health, mental well being, a rosy complexion...any calorie burn is a bonus.

CICO - do it with food
