When to focus in on exercise in addition to diet?

I'm about 20 pounds from my goal weight, when would I start adding in more exercise? I'm currently very active day to day, but don't do much for planned workouts, particularly with regard to strength. I've seen people say not until the last 10 lbs, and I've seen the last 50 lbs. Should I hold off, or is now a good time?

Now is a great time. Last week would have been great too. In other words, there is no "too soon" (as long as you do not have a medical reason not to strength train.)0

As long as you have no injuries or other conditions that would make it risky, I'd start now.0
