When to pay attention to a fat/scale.

I know that your body is a very variable thing and measuring it every day can cause panic and despair to many. But if you realize that the scale is only a relative measure to itself, how do you work with the information on the scale and even personal measurements. How often can you look at your scale, your daily caloric intake and see if you really are loosing weight vs just having it be fluctuation of salt weight or at worse water retention when you are going to go into your period?

Um, you're a male.0 -
Lifting4Lis, thanks for noticing. this was a generic question since I'm doing weight loss with women and I feel this is important information to know.0

I think you might lack the proper reproductive organs to have a period.0 -

Well no one woman is the same, so how their monthly visitor impacts them will vary. It's also not always the exact same. PMS at 15 is not what PMS at 22 was and it's not was PMS at 33 is for me. It changes as you get older.0 -

yup. i've been gaining this week but I'm also high in salt and low in water intake lately, and I've been weighing myself pre-morning poop. LOL. That morning poop makes a difference.0 -

If we start cycling together just because we're all friends on here I'm going to be a little concerned, not gunna lie. :huh:0 -

I weight nearly daily, with the understanding that it's going to fluctuate. I only record when I hit a new low, but pay attention to how long between one low and the next. It helps me know when eating out (too much sodium?) is affecting my weight, when I'm about to start, etc.0

Wha?? :noway:0

Honestly OP, I eat a crap ton of sodium, rarely weigh myself, and rarely lose weight.0

Pointedly ignoring the food pics . . .
I don't get the once a week weight issue- if that one day happens to be high because of water retention, inadequate poopage, men cycling with women, etc, that seems like it would induce more anxiety rather than less. I use Trendweight (syncs with Withings scale but weights can be manually entered) which is based on the Hacker's Diet - there are likely other apps/websites. Smooths out the highs and lows and gives a trend line which way weight is going.

Pietro Ferrero, who really created Nutella (trying to save money) died in 1949. It was his son that died recently. Apparently the company is still totally family owned and run. Which is sort of awesome.0 -
