Hi, I started 5 weeks ago to try and get in shape for summer. I started out at 168.2 and I'm currently down to 160.4. My goal weight is 140. I will be turning 44 this year and finally have the time and motivation to get this "show on the road"! I haven't started exercising yet but I am trying to find the thing that will keep me motivated to exercise. This seems to be the hardest part for me. Would love to make friends on here who are in the same boat!

We are sort of in the same boat. I will be 55 this year and really never had a problem with my weight until I got sick last year and spent months on steroids. That caused me to eat everything in sight. I joined MFP to help track calories and exercise and to get a little more motivation from some of the folks on here. I am by no means fanatical about it and if I want a bag of Skittles, I will have a bag of Skittles but spend a few extra minutes on the treadmill. On the advise of my doc when I first started this back in December, she said cut most of the carbs out of my meals, like bread, potato's and pasta for at least the first 6 weeks which I did and the results I saw were quick. I lost 8lbs the first 10 days from that and seriously decreasing sodium. I am down 14 so far and losing about a lb a week which is good for me, my goal is to get to 152. I always stayed between 152 and 157 before ballooning up to 190 last year. Keeping my calories around 1200 which some folks think is low but I have digestive issues and have to watch what I eat. and can't do a lot of fiber. I park at the farthest end of any parking lot where ever I go and have started using my sons weight bench to help tone up which has done wonders for my back fat and I do the treadmill a couple of days a week. Good luck to you, you don 't have a huge amount to lose so you can do it! :D
