Reducing fatty liver

I am beginning a new eating plan to improve my liver. Is there a good cooking book that helps with this? Or books on the subject of fatty liver.

I once had this.....it was non-alcoholic fatty liver, and losing weight made it go away. Nothing crazy, just calorie counting to lose. I ate most of the same things, just less.0

I remember something about presurgery patients fasting and drinking milk to shrink their livers.0

Do you have a diagnosis? If so, that sounds like something to talk to your doctor about and maybe get a referral to a dietician.0

I was diagnosed in Dec....was told to loose the weight. ETA, i am now with a weight loss clinic and have a personal nutritionist and work at the gym 4 days a week with 2 days a personal trainer.0

had the same...i lost 24 kg and it went away ...there is no magical diet, just lose weight and it will be gone0

I had the same thing, went to a specialist that says this is very common (something like 20% of people have this issue). He said, cutting edge research at the time (5-8 years ago) said the running theory is that some bodies just don't know how to handle sugar well and sometimes it just decides to produce fat on the liver as a result. Or it could be a case of high and untreated cholesterol. (Both cases were me).
I was able to improve my condition by cutting sugar back and losing weight while on Cholesterol meds.0 -
My husband has non-alcoholic fatty liver (along with a number of other related pancreatic issues) and was just told (by more than one specialist) to lose some weight and increase fitness. No special diet, no particular foods. He lost some weight (her didn't need to lose much) and lo and behold - No more fatty liver!
So yeah, I don't think you need a special diet for it, just a better one. It makes me sad that the diet inductry capitalises on helath issues to sell unnecessary diets etc.0 -
I also have fatty liver and yes losing weight will definitely help but I was also told from a nutritionalist to drink 8 oz of warm water with 1 lemon every morning ...it will help with the liver.....on my 3rd. day of that drink.....0

Carbohydrate restriction was found to be more effective than calorie restriction alone in http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21367948
"Liver triglycerides decreased significantly with weight loss (P < 0.001) but decreased significantly more (P = 0.008) in carbohydrate-restricted subjects (-55 ± 14%) than in calorie-restricted subjects (-28 ± 23%)."0
