Hey there! Just curious if any of you who have had tummy tucks have had issues with weight gain after your surgery? I LOVE my tummy tuck results and do not regret it for a minute, but this past Valentines day was a year since my surgery, and my weight seems to keep going up, MUCH more easily than before my surgery. :( My weight now seems to cling on to my legs. I had the fully tummy tuck and lipo in the abs and back area. I would like to hear how others have recovered and how you are dealing with eating and exercise to maintain your new figure and also improve.

Plastic surgery DOESN'T address the problem of calorie consumption. If you're gaining weight, it's because you're eating more than you need.

I haven't had a tummy tuck. I really want one after birthing three babies. Trying to weigh the pros and cons. Are you heavier than you were previous or are you noticing it more in your legs now that your tummy is more toned?

Figuredat - Yes, I am heavier now. I am 5'8", but small boned, so 162 lbs kills me! I was 150 when I went in for the surgery, which is still heavier than my body is used to. I have found that my weight shifted from my tummy to my hips and legs. Like I said, I do not regret the tummy tuck, as I hated the flappy tummy from having two big babies. I have been working out on a regular basis and trying to eat practical, which means, no fast foods and trying to cook more at home. I am needing to step it up, however and really be much more cautious about what I eat to see if the weight begins to go back down and then some. Even after a year post surgery, I feel like I am still swollen in places and that my legs are heavier, due to fluid retention there as well. If you do decide to do the surgery, do your research and find a doctor that you are 100% comfortable with. Also, be prepared for a long recovery period. It is much more difficult that bouncing back from having babies. :) But... it is well worth it! On both parts!

  • I've lost 18st 2lb and have found myself fighting the NHS to get skin removal surgery. It's took seven years to lose the weight and was asked to lose more to be accepted for surgery at 5ft 1 and 9.5st I'm bone, muscle from extensive training and alot of excess, uncomfortable demoralising, embarrassing skin. It hurt to exercise due to the movement of my skin around my frame and my confidence and self esteem has shrunk with my weight loss. From others that have had excess skin removed I have so many questions. Did the surgery lower your weight further.?How long does it take to recover.? Can a mamio plasti and stomach tuck be done together?
Lologarret, keep going, be determined, set a goal and go for it. (squat, squat, squat till u love the burn) I'm proof you can achieve anything.
I'm still on my journey, I will need stomach tuck, thigh tuck, arm tuck to elbow and mamio plasti for my excess skin. I'm at a low at the moment, in pain and deflated but still determined.

kikisexylady! You have achieved SO MUCH!!! Be proud of yourself!!! Losing the weight and gaining muscles and strength is an amazing feat and such a in inspiration to others. Yes, I feel that getting rid of the loose skin does help with the self confidence. I cannot answer your questions about the mamio plasti and tummy tuck together, as only a surgeon would know. I will say that the tummy tuck was not an easy surgery it was PAINFUL and took some time to heal, but well well worth it for me. The surgery will not lower your weight, it tightens your loose skin (mine was from having big babies and a c-section). It gave me the confidence I needed to feel better about myself without having the constant fight to hide my belly in or out of clothes. I have instead gained weight in my thighs and my rear, due to the shift of fat cells from the surgery and fluid retention. I FINALLY found out why I was gaining where I have been! It can take up to five years for your body to adjust to the changes in your body, because the tummy tuck and lipo eliminate the fat from your stomach area, BUT your body naturally needs to find a new course of action. So now I have an hour glass shape that I did not have before! :) I am okay with having a little more in my behind, but just not so much in my behind! LOL It is starting to go down though. I have never weighed this much before, but oddly do not look like I weigh as much as I do. Once you have the surgery you have to be that much more careful about your calories and types of foods that you eat. Thanks for your words, I will keep on keeping on, because it makes me feel better and in control! You do the same and hope for you to pull out of your low. I am so sorry you are in so much pain and wish for you to find a solution soon.

ninerbuff, thanks.... I had some lipo done to my tummy and back area, but not my brain. I do realize that plastic surgery DOES NOT address the problem of calorie intake. This is why I wrote this discussion board for those of us who are trying to get healthy and other mother's who have opted for tummy tucks to get rid of their mommy bellies that cannot be achieved through diet and exercise, as well as those who have gone through significant weight loss to find out if they are having similar difficulties. I pride myself in being informed and being practical, as well as being in the best shape I can be in for myself and my family. I have just run into some obstacles since my surgery and little by little are finding out all the hidden truths that can occur from this procedure. Discussion boards are a way we can all help each other discover how to get through those obstacles and provide hints and tips to each other.
