    Take it slow, and simple.

    1) Pre-plan your day

    2) Weigh your food. Lots of newbies underestimate their serving sizes.

    3) You didn't gain the weight in a month; You won't lose it in a month. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint - the amount of time it takes you to hit your goal weight is irrelevant. What's important is that you find long-term solutions to healthy living, that will allow you to one day hit your weight goal & more importantly, maintain.

    4) Find exercise you can do regularly, and more importantly, enjoy. You won't do something you hate for the rest of your life.

    5) Don't eat back your exercise calories if your goal is to lose weight. MFP drastically overestimates calories burned, as does the monitors on the treadmills & similar equipment.

There are loads of "diets" out there & honestly they all pretty much work as long as you cut your calories to a deficit. It's finding what will work for YOU long term. I'm 47 & eat pretty much anything I want. I just exercise regularly & count my calories. I have 1,500 as a daily goal but everyone has different caloric needs. I tried 1,200 calories but was tired, hungry, grouchy.

Start logging all your food. It's unrealistic to expect to follow someone else's diet plan, especially if it doesn't include foods you like or know how to cook.
