hi there
Hope someone can answer this one. I haveenabled my fit bit to sync with my fitness pal. Today I did a boot camp class that I logged in my fit bit at close to 500 cal. When I look in my fitness pal it tells me I have a 258 cal credit from my fit bit which is only half the time or a calories are other thoughts?

If you link your Fitbit and MFP accounts, you are supposed to log your food and exercise in MFP only and allow it to sync back to Fitbit. Otherwise it results in double-logging. I unlinked the two and do my primary tracking in the Fitbit app only because it tends to give me more consistent and realistic exercise burn results. So basically, I have the two separate, log my exercise in Fitbit, and I record my food in MFP(because their food database is so much more extensive) and just input the number manually into Fitbit. I swear it's not as time-consuming as it sounds.

To specifically answer your question, MFP attempts to use your Fitbit steps/activity to adjust your overall activity. So just because you burned X number of calories doing that one workout, if you sit at a desk for the rest of the day, MFP is going to reflect that fact. So that's what it's doing is trying to take Fitbit's realtime data and extrapolate it over your entire day.

Just curious - is it possible to not sync the two? So for example, if I eat 1200 calories logged with MFP, and make sure that my Fitbit reaches 1700 calories burned throughout the day, then I could just keep track of my calories that way, instead of using MFP's exercise numbers?
