hi all,

i'm fairly new to this site and just wanted to get some feedback on anyone who's used hydroxycut advanced? i generally try to stay away from taking any type of pills. i've been on various pills and diets before (i.e. alli) and they worked but not for long. only reason why i decided to try hydroxycut is because i could use the extra boost in my workouts since i work a FT job. i understand it's not a magic pill and i don't expect myself to miraculously lose weight just by taking it (i know it's 50% diet and 50% exercise), but i do want to know that it has helped some of you in reaching your goals faster. i'm on my third day right now.

thanks!

I stopped taking Hydroxycut. Too much bad stuff i've seen and heard about it.

Plus it was messing with my heart and heartbeat. Don't know if it was supposed to do that or if it was a side-effect...

I don't know much about it... other than the Jersey Shore people use it.

I like phase 2 of Metabolife for a little extra energy and some vitamins/minerals. :) It has caffeine.

It's 80% diet, 20% excercise..... Sort your nutrition out and leave the hydroxycut alone.

Honestly, if it's not natural, you probably shouldn't fool with it. It's not good, it raises your heartrate and has cardiac implications. You're better off watching what you eat and exercising.. God gave you everything you need within reach.. there's no magic involved and no magic pill will help. Plus, as a health care provider, I believe them to be not healthy at all, and perhaps even detrimental.

Be careful with OTC diet pills, or diet pills in general. The FDA pulled Hydroxycut in 2009 due to a significantly increased risk of liver failure. I'm relatively certain the product on the market now is a different formula, I'm only pointing this out so that you (or anyone) understands that just because a medication is OTC it doesnt mean it's risk free. Heck, even prescription meds: fen-phen combo caused mitral valve and aortic valve regurgitation (leaking heart valves) and primary pulmonary hypertension (which should not be confused with HBP, it's a different condition...and it's going to kill you)...so even if it has the FDA's blessing that doesnt mean it's necessarily safe. The 'herbal' suppliments are even more concerning. Please discuss with your doctor, and it may not be a bad idea to see your doctor fairly regularly so they can keep an eye on you while taking any diet meds.

now that said, I have no idea if it actually works or not. The people I've talked to with liver damage from the previous formula all said it did...

Something that I have noticed is that MEN in particular emphasize how DIET is more important than EXERCISE for weight loss.

This may be true for men, and I can affirm I have witnessed this. But for women, WHO ALSO HAVE DIFFERENT HORMONES, which cause the body to hold onto fat longer and in different places, I am going to go ahead and say its 50/50.

    ...just sayin.

Well I can tell you that I personally have lost with just diet changes but not with exercise changes alone. Both works the best but if you had to pick one, fix the diet first.

that's interesting and good to know, thanks! i work out 4-6 days a week and generally am able to track my nutrition during the week days but it's the nighttime snacking and weekends that throw me off...hence why i probably have not seen any real results. hormones do also play a factor but i think i want to post that question in a new thread.

    straight to the point. thanks!
  • I would not take it. My sister died from cardiac arrest from a similar diet pill in 2002. No bueno.

i am sorry to hear that. hopefully i can still return it and get my money back even though i've popped a few already...
  • Diet pills in general just scare me, for obvious reasons. Considering the FDA doesn't really monitor these supplements raises a huge concern to me. I would say that as a rule of thumb; if it promises unusual results without diet or exercise, while 'boosting your metabolism,' it probably shouldn't go in your mouth. Period. The time you take to shed weight, get in shape, eat right, etc. is worth so much more to your confidence and self worth than popping a pill and risking the potential serious side effects, and even death. You're worth more than a diet pill!

true that, pills are excuses. This isn't even a diet pill, it's a metabolic (thermogenic) enhancer, think 4 hour energy, rip fuel, etc, etc. As far as I'm concerned since ephedrine was banned, you're better off just drinking some tea or coffee.
