hey y'all! My daughters gave me the Garmin Vivofit device for Christmas which snowballed into me wanting to get fit. I started on Medifast but had no results I'm now on Nutrisystem. We'll see how that goes. I hired a personal trainer and joined a private gym. Working very hard to achieve fitness! Anyone want to chat and encourage each other?

I'm 50 and would love to encourage you! I've tracked my calories and exercise for 23 days straight and lost 8 pounds w MyFitnessPal app. Tried Weight Watchers mostly with some slow success, but this is free! I find finishing my daily journal entries inspiring because MFP flashes up the weight I could be in 5 weeks if I continue eating like today. Good luck to you. I think it's good to switch food plans till you find the right fit.

I'm 49 and just getting started too...again. I have yo yo'd so much the past 12 years and I'm tired of it. I'm 2 weeks in and have lost 7lbs. I'm trying to train my brain against sugar and white bread which are my downfalls. I haven't started the fitness thing yet. I have 2 bad knees and just haven't motivated myself to start exercising but I know I need to if I'm going to be successful with this. I would love to encourage and be encouraged. I really want to stop his cycle of gaining and losing. I'm tired of not wanting to go out in public because of how I look. So..7lbs down and 33 to go!

Consider a stationary bike. Its easier on your knees than most exercising. Good luck. We can do it!

Hi there. I'm 51 and been doing this for well over a year. I've lost to date 76 lbs eating 1200 to 1500 cals a day. I'm trying to step up my plan now so I can drop more. I don't really have a goal, just to be healthier than I was. Its a slow process, but I'm deteremined to get there. BTW I started @ 300 lbs/ now 224 . I've had a massive plateau now for some time, so any help would be great! Add me if you would like.

Welcome chessiepk, it's never too late to start.

I started on this site in 2011 with the last of 24kgs to lose from a total of 76kgs, at that point I was around 48 yeas of age. I found MFP such a great tool to help with calorie counting and such much information about the whole shebang of weightloss.....sometimes it can be a minefield of mis-information and fads...added on to my human impatience to lose the weight NOW.

This site has helped me maintain successfully for over 3 years and now that life has thrown me some curved balls in relation to what exercise I am able to do (or not) I haven't regained any weight which would only make my problems worse.

So for you and all the other new ladies, I wish you all the best and have fun finding the 'old' or 'new' you.

    Cheers Karen

I am going to be 58 soon, always looking for friends. My weight loss is slow too due to meds and other health issues. Thanks to MFP, I keep on track for the most part. Add me if you wish!
