TDEE is total daily energy expenditure, the amount of energy you burn during the day.

Step 6 is your goal? Put all your values in (activity level etc.), and at the bottom it will tell you what caloric allowance you need to achieve that.

So, given a person's TDEE, does the MFP app automatically calculate the deficit needed to lose weight from the data that you enter in your profile? Should I eat the amount of calories that are calculated. For example, the app suggests 1,750 calories per day without exercise. Say I workout and burn 250 calories. 1,750+250=2,000; should I eat the 2,000 calories that's calculated?

On its default setting, MFP doesn't calculate TDEE--it calculates your average daily expenditure, minus purposeful exercise. TDEE calculators (like the one Lifting4Lis linked) ask your level of physical activity because they factor that in, giving you one number that includes everything.

If you input your TDEE manually, you wouldn't need to input individual physical activities anymore.

If you're following MFP way, then yes you would add in the exercise to come up to 2000. TDEE is a calculation which already includes your exercise, so is going to be a higher number. To lose weight, usually people eat TDEE -20%.

But can I just add, why the 1lb/week goal? With 21lb to lose you might find that the 0.5lb/week goal is more reasonable and easier to stick to. I've got 15lbs before reaching my goal, max 20lbs if I go to my lower goal, and the 1lb/week rate is too steep for me!
