How about making Wednesdays your "free" day? That way you can eat what you want for dinner, have a piece of pie and not worry about it. Many people here have "free" (or cheat) days once a week and are doing fine with their weight loss. What *I* would do is go ahead and have what you want, but LOG IT. This way you can see what exactly you're eating on those "free" days. I always log my free (cheat) days. It's funny because even after eating whatever I want to eat -- I don't go THAT far over my calories.

Some pies are bound to be healthier than others. Maybe opt for fruit pies instead of cheesecake? Not sure.

Oh, and my tactic when my skinny boyfriend wants dessert -- split it with him, and take time to really appreciate each bite. If your husband is anything like my boyfriend, he'll gobble up at least two-thirds without realizing it. ;)

Many restaurants have their menu and nutrition info available so you can review what they have before you get there (or after you get home). Before you know it you will know what to order. Also, it never hurts to ask for take home box up front and put part of your meal in it before you eat (saving room for pie of course).

Love that you are going out to dinner once a week with your husband - that is so important!

But Im a bit worried about the fact you have chosen wednesday night because they have free pie?

Maybe you should look at another night where you DONT get the free pie so you dont jeopardise yourself for the week and think twice about the pie because you need to buy it?

In general, stick with foods that are NOT deep fried, not heavy in creamy sauce. I usually choose spicy thai stir fried dishes, very healthy with lots of vegetables and the added bonus of chilli which is a great fat burner!

salads out here are amazing, look at ones with low fat cheese, avocado, low fat meats like chicken or beef, and grilled seafood dishes are amazing too!
  • I look at the menu of the restaurant online before I go and plan what I'll eat. That way I can guess-timate what the calories will be by adding them up in the recipe section of this site. And if I make those decision beforehand I'm less likely to be swayed when my stomach is growling at the place. When I last ate out I got a small-ish flat crust margherita pizza, which is not as terrible for you as you might think!

I don't have a free day but I do only eat half of what I order and save it for the next meal. Lunch or Dinner and for the pie, if you really don't want it, don't have it or take it home for the hubby for desest on Thurs. If you do want it, toss in a little extra exercise and be mindful of your calories for Breakfast and Lunch.

You will know after a week or so if you can get by eating the pie, the scale will tell you.

You will find what works best for you, just enjoy your date nite!

Its always good to check the menu first at home if you can. This way, you can decide what is most healthy and also full of flavor. Don't forget your salad with your dressing on the side!
