I'm new to this site, and so far it is one of the easiest sites to log food. I don't understand when you log your food for the entire day, why the weight for 5 weeks is going up? Is it because I'm not eating all my allotted calories or because my sodium is high?

Hiya Crystal. Welcome... I'm newer, as well.
I log my food throughout the day, usually before I prepare & eat it. This way, I can see how much I'm eating & the total caloric intake... then, I can adjust, if necessary. For example, I used to eat a lot of Fig Newtons as snacks, not knowing they're 60 calories each! I can eat 8-10 at a time, thinking I'm just eating dried fruit with a tiny bit of cookie outside. I honestly thought they were probably 20 calories/each tops before I began logging food here. Now I know differently.
If the projected 5-wk weight is going up each day, it's alerting you that you're eating more calories than you need each day. Do you see that on the bottom in your totals? You can peruse back through previous days to get the totals. Just eat smaller portions or choose other foods. For example, I dropped the Fig Newtons all together. Six of them is more than 1-1/2 cups of homemade vegetable beef stew. I'd rather have the hot, homemade stew... more filling & satisfying.
Not sure about your sodium intake, but again, check out the normal foods you'd eat before eating them... you can always delete them from your daily record by clicking the red button to the right of the entry. Another snack for me used to be dill pickles. I could eat 4 for a meal. Well, turns out 1/4 of one is all the salt one needs for the day. Again, who knew? I thought they were stored in vinegar... had no idea so much salt was added. The calories aren't that high, but I don't want to take in 4 times the amount of salt I need in 1 day. That's not good for anyone long term.
Perhaps take some time to just play with the add feature... add in what you'd normally eat, view the results, delete it & list another food. This might help you with food choices down the line. Best of luck!0 -
Thanks, that is valuable insight. It is hard to believe the daily recommended amounts vs actual take in. My sodium is greater than I thought, but I guess it's good I only drink water and typically over 100 Oz per day.0

don't pay attention to the projections, I've never had mine accurate. Sodium will cause water retention, so less processed foods will help this. Finally, make sure you're using a food scale.0
