Hi there, I'm almost 44, and getting back into the swing of things after a few years. Trying to watch what I eat and getting back into exercising. How many how times, should I exercise and for how long? I have a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike and a home gym. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi I'm just getting started again. I had lost a lot of weight before and kept it off for lots of years. Went thru recent move and have been putting on some weight. Re: getting back to healthy habits- that's great!! What do u like to do? I think it's so important to pick exercise that you enjoy most. Im not a fan of strength training but it's so important to incorporate at least 2 days of that a week to build up muscle tone which helps with metabolism too. So figure out- bands, video, exercise class, on your own free weights? I love being outdoors so I took band to city park that had great trails and would do fast walk then band work then walk then bands. It was still work but I enjoyed it more. I also have a few workout videos for days I just want to be inside on rainy day. What is your week like? I would say 4-5 x per week is good start. Alternate day of cardio- 30 minute or more with day of strength training. Changing it up is always best- but really try and figure what form of exercise is most appealing for you: ie swimming, hiking, running, treadmill, exercise class. If you need a buddy to encourage- I need one too.
