No such thing, sorry.
then why is it when I go to the gym for a certain class the instructor who's built like a brick shithouse yells out "do this exercise, it's a good one for belly fat" or PT might say to me "try this machine, it will help to get rid of the fat in your upper back area" and I'm not talking about spot reduction, I'm talking about changing the shape of your body with exercise. Caloric restriction is for fat loss, exercise is to change one's shape yes?

you can't spot reduce …fat comes off from where it wants to come off..
sounds like your PT has a PHD in bro science….
yes you can target different muscle areas - back, arms, thighs, triceps, quads, etc - but you cannot spot reduce fat….0 -
if you want to lose side belly fat fast then keep eating in a deficit and training …

how many times do i have to tell these people that i wasnt talking about spot reduction!!

That's easy!
Grab a knife, chop off excess fat on either side of your stomach, and voila! No gym membership needed, and get results fast!
Or you can eat at a calorie deficit to lose fat, but that fat is going to come off where it wants, when it wants. You cannot spot reduce fat, and anyone who is telling you differently is either misinformed, or trying to sell you something.0 -

Post from another member in here (male):
Actually you can target certain muscle groups with isolation exercises. If it's your abs your looking to lose there are tons of exercises for those, I use an app called jefit, one of the best I've seen and use, they have all kinds of exercises and routines to help you reach and target which body parts you would like to work on. They have 3 different versions of the app. Get the free one, that's all you need.0 -

You know it's bad when you're linking men's fitness articles to prove your point. That's like linking to Dr. Oz for nutritional information. Please stop trying to spread misinformation, it doesn't help anyone.0 -
lol this thread is funny. Side belly fat. We're talking about love handles right?
Eat at a deficit. Cross your fingers.0 -
Dr. Oz makes me so sad. He tells people that gluten is bad, for everyone. Gluten feels very bullied by Dr. Oz.0

Love handles are fat, yes?0 -

Calorie restriction is for fat loss, but you can't decide where the fat will come off. Exercise will help you burn calories, which reduces fat. Building muscle (by doing those particular exercises) will help change your shape, but you'll only be able notice it when the fat is gone.

And to add to this...if you're losing fat, and eating at a deficit, you're also not building muscle if you're doing resistance training-you're helping to preserve it. This will give you a more fit look after you have lost the fat, as opposed to losing a greater amount of muscle mass if you had not lifted/strength trained.0 -

Actually, most of those exercises aren't primarily ab exercises. And the article admits:
"To burn fat you must do more then just crunches and situps; You need to recruit your entire body to enter a thermogenic state that leads to an accelerated rate of fat loss" (a fancy way of saying "you gotta burn calories").
Why did they title the article, "Best moves to lose your love handles"? Because that's what people want to hear.
Next time a fitness professional promotes spot-reduction, show them this article by ACE, one of the leading fitness certifying organizations:
Myths and Misconceptions: Spot Reduction and Feeling the Burn

Working the muscles under the love handles actually won't do much to change your shape, because the muscles don't pull in very much on the side. Try pulling in your abs and look at your sides. That's the best that ab exercises can do.
Anyway, it looks like the OP had already made his mind up before he got replies. So i'm going to go eat some gluten.0 -

I love this comment. Unfortunately for you, the poster you were replying to is stating a fact and not an opinion.
Losing fat is like trying to dry out a sponge, you can't dry a corner while the rest of the sponge is still wet. Calorie deficit and exercise. Often the belly and love handles are the last to go.0
