Is anybody else going through it and doing well? Just started this past week and a half going to the gym and started calorie diet. It is a battle with Fibromyalgia also.

I have battled fibro with not a great deal of success. I have recently "restarted" my journey. You can add me if you like. We can do this! :D

When I started my journey in June 2013 my fibro was so bad no one could touch me.
I used to say, "it would hurt less if they actually stabbed me with a knife"

But now.. I can enjoy a tickle fight as much as the other person. Without meds!

I must admit with fatigue, pain and MS having made my whole right side non functional, I actually could not exercise.

But that didn't stop me moving as much as I could.. Walking pushing the shopping cart at the shops.. laps of the coffee table at home.

I lost more than 40lb before I even tried to get on the treadmill.. Just 15-30min a few times a week.

Now at 110+ lb loss and a healthy BMI I am doing 60min a day on treadmill 4-5 days a week. And about to start on the journey to join a gym to start lifting weights to finally build up some strength.

Just remember you don't NEED exercise to loose weight.. And when your body is ready you will WANT to exercise.. Don't make it a chore or you will hate doing it and give up.

Oh and make sure you get a foam underlay for your bed.. Cause when the fat comes off.. The mattress kills the fibro!!! But then one day you are lying there and you realize.. Hmmm my ribs don't hurt..

The journey is soo worth it when that happens!

I've had fibro for 14 years now. It can be rough. I've done away with pain meds at this point, except for neurontin, and personally I credit that to lifting weights. But in the beginning all I could do was a few minutes of walking. Do what you can for activity and control your intake for weight loss. And be patient with yourself-- don't compare yourself to other people who don't have the challenges that you have.

Almost 23 years with this at age 46! I was basically in agony 24/7 for about 7 years when I first got this. Meds, gentle exercise and body work made a big difference for me but very slowly. I lost weight accidentaly with water aerobics 3 times a week but normally avoiding sugar and moderate calories are the most critical for weight loss and maintenance. I couldn't do any weight training for about 15 years and still can't do much, but it doesn't seem to matter too much. Don't give up. You can manage this over time.

i've been a fibro sufferer for approx 5 years and it has been hard but ive managed to lose weight without much exercise. i suffer from osteo and rheumatoid arthritis too so ive focused on the diet side of things more. its been slow but i have done it. i can manage a bit of walking and a little wii step if i'm having a good day (because the board is low) but that's all. i can barely open a door at times or make a drink so going to the gym is a no no for me but i've lost the weight still. i don't believe there is anything wrong with a slow and steady loss. you do what feels right for yourself  good luck x
