So if am eating a lot of fruit it's taking me over my Sugar allowance, should i alter my sugar intake or eat less fruit?

did you set his allowence yourself? or let MFP do it?
the WHO and AHA suggest only intaking 10%-20% of you daily calorie intake coming from sugars..meaning about 30-50 grams of sugar a day...based on a 2000 calorie diet.
sugar itself isnt unhealthy, its just the added calories that sugar adds that causes us to gain the weight, not the sugar itself. (according to the WHO)
if you are eating a lot of fruits then you should be fine..since fruits have tons of different vitamins and nutrients in them..so hence its better to eat them, than sugar laden low nutrient foods like brownies or candy bars.0 -
Also the fibre in the fruits slows down sugar absorbtion...have you ever seen a fat fruit addict? lol
I say munch up and don't worry too much about it. There are some fruits out there that are higher in energy than others - you could always expel them from your diet if your really worried but the pros far outweigh the cons. Honestly - I only use mine to examine stuff other than fruit (you will be shocked at what has sugar in)!

This is a popular question, this is the third day in a row I've seen someone ask this.
Even though its natural sugar, its still sugar. Its still going to cause a spike in your blood sugar levels, which I guess is more important for those who are diabetic.
In my opinion to much of a good thing is still too much. Maybe you could trade some fruit for vegetables or just aim to eat mostly fruit are lower in sugar.0 -
You CAN get too much of a good thing. Balance is the key. The main sugar in fruit is fructose. In natural form-fruit, a little is good thing, especially considering all the other vitamins, minerals, and fiber you get.
HOWEVER, we have all been misled about the value of the additive high fructose in place of other sweeteners in processed foods! One doctor noted that diabetic patients had been encourage to use fructose in place of sugar provide a sweet alternative that was processed in the liver. But one doctor tracked the latest rapid weight gain of the general American population and compared it with the amount of HFCS and other similar fructose additives replacing regular sugars in colas and processed foods: The lines of the graph were parallel!
BEWARE: 'High Fructose' is 'doubly-concentrated' fructose. It is made by taking the syrup from the fruit and concentrating it TWICE. Fructose is not processed as other sugars are. It goes straight to the liver. If it is the concentrated additive, it is adding fat to your liver (limiting it's effectives in digestion -- including insulin control!) It goes directly to belly fat, not to energy as with other sugars.
This is a simplified explanation. The information comes from medical research by the top liver specialists in the field. However, the spread of this information has been limited by large companies wishing to add HFCS (High fructose corn syrup) as a cheaper sweetener for their products. They have even applied to the FDA to approve the name "natural sweetener" to this product to conceal its source. The "high fructose" component is only added to corn syrup to make it sweeter to match other sugars. Corn syrup by itself is NOT the culprit.
If anyone already has a chronic liver disease, the specialist said this concentrated fructose is a poison for the liver.

CONCLUSION: When we open our mouths today we cannot assume we know what we are putting in them It's on us to do our research!
