Foot pain on elliptical

whenever I do more than about 30 or 40 minutes of elliptical or AMT my feet start to hurt. It's sort of like they fall asleep on the balls of my feet. As soon as I stop the pain stops. It doesn't happen when I walk or do classes like body combat, etc so I don't think it's just tight shoes?

I wear sneakers with 3/4 length arch supports.

Any ideas?

Do you scrunch up your shoes/toes tight to the front of the pedals? Do you shift your feet around on the pedals over the course of the workout, sometimes moving them a little wider apart, sometimes closer, sometimes further up on the pedals, sometimes further back? Do How does it feel if you take out the arch supports?

I get that feeling sometimes too and I start to pedal backward for about 30 seconds and I am good to go for a while longer.

I do move my feet once I notice the feeling

Peddling backwards is a great idea.

I notice this happens when I pedal on the balls of my feet, which is my default form. When I make a conscious effort of push my heels into the pedal and flatten out my feet, the pain subsides.
