I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has had their kidneys leak protein into the urine. What meds did you take? Does it reverse?

  • I am not sure what your case is, but hyaline casts can be seen in a normal healthy person's urine from vigorous exercise. This will cause positive protein in a urinalysis. I am not dismissing the possible seriousness, but a protein electrophoresis and immunofixation would be an ideal test if you havent had those performed yet.

This can be a serious matter, and something that should be addressed by your doctor.
  • It is being addressed by a dr. I have Diabetes that I ignored for years and for the past year I made a lot of changes and have lost weight but my numbers are still bad with that. Just scared and would like to find someone else who is or has gone through it who can be of help

There is a blood pressure medication that a lot of diabetics are on to protect the kidneys from exactly what you are facing. Lisinopril is the name, you may want to talk to your doctor about it (how concerned is he/she about the spilling protein?). Obvoiusly, getting your DM better controlled will also be very helpful. good luck.

I had this a lot when I was pregnant. It sorted itself once I had had the babies. I don't think it's the end of the world, but can be a sign of other things so you need to get checked out.

edit. Just read your second post. Just go with what your doctor says. Good luck with the diabetes.

My husband had this problem. He was a bad diabetic and high blood pressure both of which we did not know. When the problem was found it had already caused damage to the membranes of both kidneys. They sent him to a kidney specialist. That was about 7 years ago. in the last 3 years his kidneys have stablized. IT took getting the right blood pressure meds and right diabetes meds to get it under control. Unfortunatley he still has damage but it hasnt gotten any worse. Depending on how high your numbers are you may need to be referred to a specialist. I don't think my husband would be doing this good with out one. Good luck to you and God Bless
