Welcome! I am far from new here (been here for a number of years) so I have quite a few really good places for you to start. I know it can be overwhelming for beginners, so first things first, make sure you have an appropriate weight loss goal selected on MFP. This will help you keep away from future headaches. Here is a basic guideline that you should look into following:

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

Ever since I've been here, I've had my weight loss goal at 1lb per week as this is what fit my lifestyle the best. I like eating so there was no way I was going to give that up :stuck_out_tongue:

Here are some threads with some really good information that you can follow

These are the ones that helped me the most and that made the most sense to me. If you haven't already, I strongly suggest investing in a food scale. Yes, most foods have a measurement on them for one serving, but they can be off and effect your weight loss in the long run. They tend to be fairly cheap and you can probably get one for $10-20 at Walmart.

    Best of luck to you!
