How discouraged are you after the first week?

so I've only lost 3 lbs this first week. I'm feeling discouraged but to be fair I haven't been working out. Is 3 not enough for just eating healthy? How do I get motivation to work out? I need help

Three pounds is actually great for a week. How much were you expecting to lose?0

Google image search "1lb of fat" - you lost 3 times that in a week - it's a lot more than you think.
Healthy weight loss takes time; if you diet too fast you will lose muscle mass, which will end up with you needing to eat even less to continue to lose weight, which sucks.
Be patient, and do some strength training and it will come off.0 -

Unless you are obese this is an unhealthy rate to be losing weight. (As in you lost too much weight to fast!) Also odds are you didn't lose any actual fat in the first week most likely just water weight.
It takes time, you won't be successful at all if you can't wrap your head around that.0 -
find something you enjoy doing for your exercise. Like zumba or walking with a friend or for me its walking and an at home crossfit workout with my son. Thats a great motivator. When your doing something you like to do its easier to do.0

That's a great first week. How much do you have to lose in all?0

How do you know you are eating healthy if you aren't logging what you eat?0

Well I was on here about 2 years ago and lost 50lbs. Then I got into a relationship and gained it all back. So this is my first week and I've lost 3. I weight 271 lbs. I'm eventually trying to get down to 140. But I figure 3 lbs a week for a year I should be around -90lbs.
does water help you lose weight?0 -
3 lbs is a burn of over 10,000 calories in a week, that is huge..............! Most people would love that rate but I agree it is possibly too much.
90 lbs in a year looks to me to be a little optimistic....IMO0 -

I would take 52 pounds in one year. Actually I want it a little quicker.

I lost 156lbs in a year .... so it's doable.... just depends on how bad you want it. I was a big boy then though ... the first 30lbs flew off of me crazy fast! Anyways... don't lower your goals, just don't be racing to the finish line is all!0 -
Wow! Congrats on 3 lbs in the very first week. It took me three weeks to see water weight loss after making dietary changes... I
Keep up the good work!0 -
So, I am on my 10th day and have not lost one ounce of weight. This is really discouraging to me. I log everything that I eat. I drink at least eight glasses of water daily as a matter of fact that's all I drink. I don't do much exercising, but I am always on the move. Any suggestions?0

You only lost 3 pounds in a week? I only lost 3 pounds in, like, six weeks. Should I just give up?
Three pounds is fantastic. The Biggest Loser is not real life.0 -
I really appreciate you guys. You're all kind and made me look at 3lbs differently.0

It's hard not to shoot for the moon from the get go, but the slower you go, the easier it will be to adjust to and maintain your new habits. I was shocked when I lost 2.2 lbs in one week when I was only aiming for 1. Anyway, as long as the scale is going down consistently, you're on the right track.0
