Lifting and calorie burn

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to calculate calorie burn during a non-cardio workout?

Wearing a heart rate monitor would be your best bet.0

In the Cardio section of MyFitnessPal, there's an entry for Strength Training. Based on Harvard Medical School's figures, it's a conservative and reasonable estimate.
[This assumes you're taking a typical 45sec-2min break between exercises.. keeping at it, but not winded. If you're taking less than 30sec breaks AND find yourself struggling to have enough breath, you'll have better success with MFP's Circuit Training entry.]
A HRM isn't a clear-cut winner here, because lifting isn't steady-state cardio.0
