i'm pretty frustrated :grumble: TOM has been here for almost four weeks and it's not going away. recently i had a cyst burst on my ovaries, and it's making my life hell. It's not helping with my weight loss journey at all, and because of all the stress, i'm constantly sick. i even just had a bout of laryngitis and couldn't work because my job is all talking. i'm not sure what i can do to help my situation. i've been to numerous doctors and not one of them is helping me with this. is anyone else having a problem like this? i'm so tired of it, and i want to feel good again.

Really, go find another doctor. You shouldn't ignore this. Our bodies weren't meant for TOM for four weeks at a time.

Please find a doctor that will treat you ASAP! That much blood loss cannot be healthy.

I would say keep looking for a doctor until you find one that will work with you! A four week period is not normal! I actually have the opposite problem (not enough periods), so I'm not sure of any other advice to give you. Are you seeing a regular doctor, or an obgyn?

there is a book called "Patient, heal yourself" in which a lot of alternative medicines are mentioned in regards to all kinds of illnesses. My sister got rid of her rheumatoid arthritis by using their methods. I suggest you give it a try.

i have endometriosis and inevitably if i do not have something done i will eventually have mine all the time and its VERY painful .... who wants that NOT ME !!!! so i went to my doctor and i put my foot down ... i told him to send me to a specialist! ... he hesitated and i told him this is MY life and MY health and i have the right to decide what i want and need to be done ... he took that i was in to see the specialist. I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy at the age of 24~! the specialist hesitated at first but i stood my ground and told him this is MY life and i am taking control of it NOW ..,. i cant live like this and im not going to! .... maybe a standing your ground approach will help?

as for the TOM lasting for a month .... ive had mine for 3 months straight and a friend has had hers for 4.5 months straight. our bodies do survive that.

I have been wondering if I have endometriosis as well, but my doctor's aren't paying attention. They just keep giving me pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, then telling me I'm fine. Because of all that's happened to me, I've wracked up over $2k in medical bills. It's frustrating to feel this way and be told I'm fine. I'm obviously not entirely fine. I have been trying to get people to listen to me and what I want, but no one is taking me seriously at the doctor's.
As for that book, I'll check it out. Thank you.

My sister had this problem. She was bleeding for about 5 weeks straight and then got really sick and had to go get two blood infusions because she lost too much blood. I would definitely be careful and find a better doctor that knows how to do their job! Hope you get it figured out sweetie!

to be diagnosed with endometriosis you have to have a laporoscopy performed .... thats 6 WEEKS or more of an inablility to work though! .... and with me im on alot of meds during my TOM to help manage pain. its literally worse than having a baby! ... and ive had 2 all natural so i know!

Go back to your Drs and ask for tranexamic acid or Dicynene, Drs aren't bothered by the occasional long period especially the males so see if your surgery has a female. If you go in knowing the name of what you want you will often get them if theyre not pain meds or antibiotics. If they won't give them head off to see a walk in centre or ER/A&E, you may need to lay it on a bit thick...passing out, lots of clots etc but you should get treated. I'm pretty sure you can by them over the pharmacy counter in some countries so check where you live.

tranexamic acid or Dicynene both work wonders, will stop your period in 3 days often sooner, have used them on and off for the past 5 years

Well, I DO pass out and have lots of clots, so it wouldn't be laying it on thick. This thing is making it hard to do anything because it also makes me throw up.

If you are passing out and losing lots of clots you really do need to see them now...tranexamic acid is available over the counter here in the UK, we're not often the first to do things so do check if you can get it OTC where you are.

That's what I was going to say. I've found them to be the most helpful and knowledgeable about "women issues." Much more so than my regular doctor.
