Deadlift

Options
So I have recently started back into heavy lifting and include deadlifts. Which I have grown to hate but I hate how it ruins my knees/shins. Does anyone else have problems with this? My shins are scraped from the bar and sometimes the bar scrapes my knees on the way down. Not sure if my form is off or what. I thought about lowering my weight to work on my form but still keeping it somewhat heavy.

I've seen some people on here wear knee high socks to protect their legs.

If the problem is scrapes, wear tall socks. Or leggings.

If the problem is your form, lowering your weight may be a good idea.

Love the bar without the knurls in the middle.

As mentioned, long socks or pants. I also had very good luck with these:

I've nicked my knee a time or 2, but if you're consistently scraping up your legs, you might want to deload and work on your form a bit. Admittedly, I'm no expert, though.

    depends on style and setup.

I don't really grind my shins until I am pulling sumo. Then it's a blood fiesta. conventional, and few problems, but I don't set up with the bar up near my ankle, more like midstep, and even when I crank the pull back hard I don't get any shin grindage.

OP - I wear long pants on deadlift day and that helps...like others said, long socks or long pants...but you are going to scrape up your shins doing some DL's...

I have a nice bald stripe up both legs from it. I just embrace the scrape.

High socks, the neoprene shin guards posted above, or just learn to tolerate it.

Mine get scraped up bad, but I pull sumo...

This is how I am. But, I'm kind of thinking I want to buy some awesome socks just because.
