    I do not understand refusing to weigh what you call your big meal.

    Do you measure your drinks?

    2 alcohol drinks (depending on what they are) could potentially ALONE be 500 calories.

    You're eating more than you think.

    You are already in (or very close to) a healthy weight for your size, so it cuts down your margin for error in counting/measuring/logging calories.

    And even with all that, you've managed a 4 lb loss which is amazing in 4 weeks, so I agree that it's primarily your expectations that need adjusting.

    I get that! I'm about your height and older than you. You may find that body recomposition is what you're really after rather than losing a few more pounds. It's working for me.

    I decided that this time around I'm not worrying about the scale quite so much. I've traded excessive cardio for lifting (progressively heavier) weights and I'm seeing great results. The scale isn't moving quite as fast but at 134 pounds I wear a size 4 jeans; jeans I could only fit into at 125 pounds or less a few years ago. I've lost the jiggle on my upper arms and I have muscle definition rather than flabby bits. I'm still running, of course, but it's not my main focus any longer. I recently had a co-worker guess my weight (unsolicited) at 118 pounds. I realized then and there that I'm much happier looking that weight than having to eat little enough to actually be that weight. :)

    As others have already said, 1 lb a week is a very realistic goal for your current size. Actually, you're already small enough that I'd recommend more like a half a pound per week. I'm 5'4", 140lbs and I'm aiming for half a pound a week, my calorie goal is 1660 per day, and I do eat back exercise calories. Just to give you some perspective.

    If you're eating less than 1200 per day, AND doing an hour of cardio (burning probably around 600 calories), you are not eating nearly enough. You need to fuel your body properly. It will thank you.

    You need to eat a minimum of 1200 NET calories. That means if you burn 600 calories working out, you eat a TOTAL of 1800 calories that day. That will come out to 1200 net.

    Only breakfast I weight usually..but things like chicken stroganoff made for two with two chicken breasts, mushrooms, and weight watchers creme fraiche and philadelphia lightest surely cant be that much more calories? Also spag bol with very lean mince, and just chopped tomatoes and oxo? And a rosemary conley portion pot of spaghetti?

    This woman is already eating more. She doesn't know what she's eating because she's not accurately measuring her intake. She's taking a wild stab at it.

    Weight loss is a slow process...that's it.

    Also, dietary fat doesn't make you fat...low fat diets really aren't very healthy from a nutritional standpoint.

    How do you come to the conclusion that your dinner -- which you have characterized as "big dinner" -- can't possibly be more than 500 calories? Seriously, a "big dinner" isn't going to be 500 calories. The amount of fat in it has nothing to do with it. One typical boneless skinless chicken breast is going to be 200 calories alone. One 2 oz (weight uncooked) serving of pasta or one 1/4 c (uncooked) serving of rice is 200 calories. If you're having two alcoholic drinks on top of that, they're going to be 150 calories total MINIMUM (that's < 2 pitiful 4 ounce glasses of wine), and more like 200-350 (one 12 beer is going to be 150 calories, for instance).

    But I also just agree that if you're weighing in at 128 now, then 1 pound per week is not only fast enough, it's arguably too fast anyway. There's no reason you can't keep doing what you're doing.

    Definitely I am too impatient.. I know that just worry that sonething is up considering ive made so many changes in 4 weeks id expect a bigger loss. Alcohol wise I have 2 25ml shots of vodka and fanta zero a night

    Impatient, unrealistic expectations and you arent measuring accurately enough. Whilst you might expect to have made more progress your body is telling you otherwise. For someone your size and weight then you are making excellent progress, but that doesnt appear to match your unrealistic and misinformed expectations. Its going to get dull for you unless you adjust or learn more about weight loss.

    That there is your issue. Well, not exactly an issue, but the reason you aren't losing as much as you would want. It looks that you do not have a lot to lose, so naturally your weight will come off slower because it's hard to create a big deficit when you aren't seriously overweight. If anything, I would venture and say you are actually losing too fast! Adjust your expectations.

    On a kind note 2lbs a week is much harder for you than someone at 300lbs because it represents a much greater % of your total body weight. Just chill out and be happy you are making the progress you are or be miserable, its your choice. A lot of your misconceptions are due to lack of knowledge. these sirts of questions always end up with people eating more and burning less than they think.

    I would just add that there are other people who dont see weight change for many months or diet for years, so think how hard and demoralising they find it. Theres improvements you could make in execution, which is just a bit of discipline, but really its not that hard if you want it enough, start with weighing instead of guessing and it will do wonders for your accuracy. Dealing with cancer or the loss of a child, that's hard.

    Ok I think what you are doing is working 1 lb a week is leaving. Given that I suggest not changing a thing.

    IF that rate is too slow for you then you can: 1) tighten up your logging, log dinner
    2) consider reducing your alcoholic drinks-Maybe to 1 a night?
    3) increase speed and/or resistance on bike. Work out harder.

    Losing 2 pounds a week would not be a very healthy goal at your size.
    1 pound or .5 pounds is a great rate of loss for you.

    Log everything you eat and drink. Do your best to be accurate. Eat back some of your exercise calories.

    Eat foods you like. You want to be able to sustain your weight loss long term.

    Alcohol will also cause water retention. When I drink I gain 1#/drink!

    Thing is, gummy bears are fat free. Does that mean they help you lose weight? Not if you eat enough to go ovcer your calorie goal! Pasta and rice are very low fat and can be calorie bombs! You need to get out of the "low fat is the key" mindset and start thinking calories.

    But 1lb a week is very very respectable.

    Maybe, maybe not. But why guess? Weigh it, log it, and find out for certain.

    THIS^^^ I am a lady who saves her calories for a couple of drinks most evenings. My wine would put me 200-300 calories over my count if I didn't track them.
