A Question for the Ladies

My question is: for those of you who don't wash your hair frequently but maintain an exercise schedule, how do you keep your hair from becoming totally disgusting? i.e. a stinky, frizzy mess.

Dry shampoo if I'm feeling lazy. Gotta wash mine normally at least every other day though.0

I rinse and condition. Sometimes I rinse with vinegar/baking-soda water and then condition.
I usually have to shower twice a day, but I try to only shampoo once.0 -
Dry shampoo. And I wear a bandanna tied around my head to soak up most of the sweat so my hair doesn't soak it up.0

Save money and don't buy dry shampoo - just use baby powder. I prefer the 100% cornstarch kind. If your hair is not blonde, you can tint it with unsweetened cocoa powder, otherwise you'll look like you have a grey powdered wig on! I usually have to wash my hair daily as I have oily hair. For me it works best if I comb it through at night - looks more natural by morning. Try to avoid getting the powder on your part line, if you part your hair.0

I use either dry shampoo or a cleansing conditioner.0

It's easier in the warmer months. I usually just wash and go every morning when I shower. I don't heat style my hair, so I don't blow dry or use curling/flat irons. I plop my hair from a t-shirt or towel. I have to make sure I deep condition though or else I have a dry frizzy mess on my hands.0

Thanks for the advice, everyone!0

No heat on my hair, ever. No blow dryers, irons, hot combs (not that I need it, I've got stick straight hair), etc. I dry my hair with a T-shirt (squeeze and wrap, don't rub). I wash only weekly w/ a deep condition, rinse w/ water only every other day. Coconut oil on the ends when it needs it (it's very long, so that's some old, dry hair on the bottom, lol).
With such infrequent washing, I find my scalp actually produces less sebum (grease/oil). If I wash too often, it overproduces oils, while the rest turns dry, brittle, and frizzy. Oh, and I don't even own a brush or comb (I "finger comb" to straighten things out). Even the fanciest, most expensive natural bristle brush will frizz up my hair.
As far as stink, well, my hair doesn't smell like freshly washed, but it doesn't stink--smells...natural (or maybe it stinks, but no one has the heart to tell me, lol).0 -

I was just wondering what to do with my hair as i dont wash it everyday either...I have been doing the baby powder thing but dry shampoos sound like something i need to try. How often should i use the dry shampooing method?0

I'm lucky if I wash my hair once a week, but I DO shower almost every day. When I shower, I just wet the underside near the nape of my neck. I feel like that's where most of the sweat accumulates anyways. (does the scalp even sweat much?)
My head doesn't stink really, it sorta smells like scalp, or natural or whatever. I haven't had anyone complaining!0 -
I wash every 3 days. Dry shampoo on day 3. Just blow dry the sweat on day 2.0
