Need advice from others who take a water pill

I recently had to start taking a water pill (Hydrochlorothiazide) to assist my High Blood Pressure Medication (Lisinopril) in lowering my Blood Pressure. I assure you it's NOT for weight loss tactics.
I am trying hard to increase my daily water intake. If I'm at home I'm fine (bathroom close by) but my fear is drinking to much at work. I work outside. I do Flagging at road construction sites. We literally have to go 10 hrs at times without a break. I'm really concerned about taking it on mornings I work in fear of not being able to hold my urine until I can take a break.
Do you think it's ok to take the pill in the evening? Not sure if that would help me during the day or not? Does anybody have any experience with this? My doctor told me it's up to me and really didn't give guidance with increase of water consumption. I don't think he grasps that I don't work in an office and I can't just jump in my car and go use a restroom somewhere.

I am on BOTH of the same meds. I take both meds in the morning, of course I no longer work, but I have to pee ALOT. If you work outside, maybe trying taking it at lunch or your final break. My dr recommend I take it in the mornings to avoid 30 bathroom trips at night.0

Yes. It's okay to take it at any time of day, as long as you're consistent. I would maybe consider late afternoons as you're getting off work, so you aren't up all night in the bathroom.0

I had to take this med a few years ago (so happy I was able to stop it though - ugh!). I found that I had to pee a lot at first and eventually my body evened out to where I had regular bathroom breaks. One thing I'll caution you about though, is that increased sensitivity to the sun is a known side effect, so since you said you work outside, be prepared for this; maybe cover up more and/or wear a higher SPF sunblock.0

I take both and truly I do not notice an increase in bathroom trips with the HCTZ. What sends me to the bathroom every 20 min is Lasix. I'd suggest starting the HCTZ on the weekend and see how it affects you if you don't want to do trial and error on a workday.
Otherwise, maybe take it right as you get off work if you don't have an hours trip home. Maybe it'll be out of your system by bedtime.0 -
i take 12.5mg of Hydrochlorothiazide every morning, and I have to pee a lot, and usually only have to pee when I drink water. On that note, I drink about a gallon of water every day, so my bathroom stops are quite frequent.
Like the OP said, try taking it on your day off and see how it affects you, everyone is different.0 -
Im on day 2 of Hydrochlorothiazide and it hasnt really effected my bathroom habits yet. Does it take a few days to get into your system?0

I like the idea of taking it after you get off work. Just be consistent with timing daily and hopefully you can get your bladder on a schedule. Good Luck!0
