Dietary Fibre?

Bit of a sensitive topic but....according to MFP, I'm eating ~45g of dietary fibre per day (versus goal of 25g) and yet...some days I'm constipated. I drink loads too - mainly No Sugar Added diluting juice.
Am I missing something vital here?
Anyone have any similar experience?
Thanks.

    How's your fat intake?

A lot of fiber does cause constipation in some people. You may increase the water you drink instead of the juice. Are you eating soluble or insoluble fiber, that will make a difference as well.

This. Check your fat intake. You need some fats/oils in your system to get things moving.

An extra cup of coffee can help, too.

I agree with reducing your fiber intake. It can cause constipation in some people.

Seconding more water and pairing fat with the fibre. If that doesn't work, reduce intake or figure out if you do well with some sources of fibre and not others.

Thanks folks.... typical fibre intake is:

    oatbran (10g)
    apple (4g)
    orange (3g)
    raspberries (10g)
    all-bran (10g)
    banana (3g)
    broccoli (4g)
Don't know what pairing fat with fibre means? (eating ~60g fat)
Don't like the taste of water hence I drink artificially sweetened juice

Maybe I'm trying to get too much of (is it non-soluble?) fibre from cereals...?

There's more to this fibre science than I thought! lol

I eat fiber cereal and it pretty much corrected my constipation. I guess everyone is different. I have heard if you eat a lot of fiber and don't drink a lot of water it makes you constipated. Try drinking more water and less juice.

That should be enough fat to keep things moving, I think.

Do you like herbal teas (hot or cold)? If so, drink these instead of the juices and in place of water. That may help. Drink the water when you're eating the fiber food.

hesn92 - thanks - do you think there's something in diluting juice that causes constipation?

Paytra - thanks - not mad keen on herbal teas.

Thinking I'll get my thyroid checked - I'm far too tired and constipation could be another symptom that my underactive thyroid needs more compensation...
