hey all, my name is Jenn and i really want to join a gym since doing it on my own isn't working as much as i want.

i'm just wondering if anyone on here has a memebership there. first how much is it?

also do you have to pay for personal trainer?

and it there a start up fee?

i wanted to go the ymca but it was too much money for me and the hours didnt work with my shedual so i like golds cuz its 24/7 and looks like it has a lot more to offer.

thanks for the help

I have a membership and I love it mailnly because they have free childcare and free classes even though I have yet to attend any I plan on it.

I'm sure thay are all different but my monthy fee is $30 and there was no start up fee.
You get one free PT session and after that I think it is an additional $10 per month to have a trainer

Pray you never need to cancel your membership...It took me a year and canceling my credit card...They never refunded the amount either...It was horrible..

The 24/7 was a perk though.

i have a membership. i signed up online when there wasnt an enrollment fee. and its $39/month. but i have daycare for $10/month and tanning for $10/month. so i pay $59/month for me. then my hubby wanted in on it. and he is $23/month to add. he doesnt get to tan tho. the personal trainers...they do charge. the ones in my golds arent actually golds employees. they're personal trainers in the area that "rent" at golds for clients. and they vary among prices. the cheapest one we have is $35/hr. i havent used one. but golds has plenty of equimpent and classes that you probably wouldnt need one. but i LOVE golds. i'm sure you will too if you decide to join.

Gold's gym is notorious for screwing people over when they cancel their membership so be careful. I'm a member of Gold's gym and I can tell you I HATE it. They don't take care of their equipment, the people at the front desk are a-holes (pardon the language) and will make fun of the more out of shape members behind their backs but in front of other members, and they cancel classes all the time. The only reason why I joined was because they are the only gym within a reasonable distance from my house and I pay $25 a month with no start up cost but I had to sign a 1 year contract. After the year is up, I'm thinking about cancelling with them (in writing with a copy sent certified mail...and trust me, I will sue them if they try any funny business) and buying P90X instead.

I go to Golds. From what I've seen, the price varies, depending on what promotions they are offering. My girlfriend. Pays $10 per month, I pay almost $40. They give you 1 free personal training session, I'm not sure what they charge after that. I never really looked into it. Some gyms are 24 hour, some aren't. It depends on the location. Twice a year, they also charge an extra fee for maintenance, and upgrading of equipment.

It depends on which Gold's you go to? They're all different. It might be a franchise but there's no real uniformity in services/trainers/pricing.

As far as I know, any gym membership I have had, I had to have a credit card because they withdrawal monthly from it.

You may be able to pay for a full year.without giving them a credit card. I have a buddy at work who did that, and he got both he, and his wife for about an equivalent to what I pay for myself.

Goodlife does not need a credit card, you can do it direct withdrawal monthly. Also Gold's is awful. I would never switch from goodlife, the ones in peterborough are great (the womens more so then the coed). I know my companies, and I would never sign with golds, premier, platinum or any others, theyre awful to deal with, don't maintain their machines and are a *kitten* to cancel if you have to

I've been a golds member for 5 years, and I love it!

The classes are top notch. All the Les Milles ones --- Body pump, Body Combat, Body Attack, Body Flow--- are fantastic, and worth the price I pay monthly. Which is $50.

I just came back from Gold's Gym and I LOVE IT! They have usually 15+ classes that are offered 35-40 times a week. I enjoy the fact that it's open 24 hours. I was going to run in a race one day w/my son and his running club. We met at the school and it was pouring rain. The running coach canceled the school's involvement in the race. As I saw the parents drive back to their subdivisions. My son and I decided to go to Gold's Gym. It was 6am. Not only did we get our run in BUT we were able to attend a class afterwards!
