I'm just looking into how to do IIFYM and starting it... and I'd love to see some success stories for motivation... As well as any getting started tips you can give... I have a lot to lose... 50-100 lbs.

Thanks!

I've been doing it for 11+ years...did it while losing weight...did it while bulking...cutting...etc.. Just enjoying my life one day at a time. ;) No food is "off limits" - but I like eating healthy most of the time. I believe in moderation.

I started it 3 years ago. I've lost 85 pounds so far. Like Kdiamond, no food is "off limits" but I generally eat pretty healthy, which is how I think most people who do IIFYM eat. Moderation is key.

Almost 65 pounds gone, super slow but steady. Went from a size 18 to a size 8/10. Have changed my eating and exercising habits and don't ever want to go back. Still 5-10 pounds to lose, but taking my sweet time about it as I am more focused on health goals now.

    If It Fits Your Macros

I lost 70 pounds through IIFYM. I also competed in two bodybuilding competitions using IIFYM. I gained some of the weight back during a bulk (along with muscle). I'm still using IIFYM to lose the extra fat and compete in more shows.

    I'm down 60 pounds in 8 months.

IIFYM is "If it fits your macros".

On good days, my protein is a little high and my carbs are a little low; more often, my protein and my fats are both high, at the expense of my carbs.

But the Carbs/Fats/Protein macros are only part of the picture - of what you ate, how much is Carbs/Fats/Protein.

Right now I'm at 55/28/16 (which is actually close to on target), because my intake so far has been a bowl of 10grain hot cereal with1 cup blueberries, a grande whole milk latte, and a cup of coffee with 2T half&half.

I'm going to have an apple and 4 oz of snap peas for lunch; after lunch my macros numbers will be 63/22/14

Dinner will probably be baked chicken (6 oz) with (tikka masala) sauce; at that point I will be at 44/22/34 which I would be pretty pleased about.

That would leave me just shy of 300 calories remaining for my daily goal (1320), and needing to eat about 175 calories more to meet the 1200 calorie minimum. 2 graham crackers and 1 one ounce cream cheese packet would leave me at 46/26/28 and 1,225 calories.

My choices could be healthier, but if I actually have the above I will have stayed within my goal, and hit my target for my macros, and it's pretty representative of my M-F choices.
