Losing weight to get pregnant!

My husband and I decided to hold off on trying to have kids until we lose 30lbs each!!
We could both do with losing about... 100 lbs each but figure 30lbs is a good point to actually start trying to have a family.
Anybody else in a similar situation?

I am in a similar situation. I'm in remession from a recent bout of cancer and gained about 40# during my treatment. Damned steroids!!! I also have only one ovary due to torsion, have a 80% chance of being sterile from my cancer treatment and to top that off I'm 100# overweight!!! Estrogen is stored in adipose tissue more loving referred to as FAT when you lose weight the excess estrogen is released into your body which makes it easier for you to conceive a child as a woman. Also actually carrying around the weight of a baby will be easier if you lose some before hand and you have a lower risk of gestational problems. So here I am on mfp and at the gym every day trying desperately to get a bun in this oven!!!!! Good luck on your journey, you two can do it!

Wow! Good for you for getting through that!! Good luck to you as well!

We haven't actively started trying yet.. don't want to risk anything until we get healthier, for both us and the soon to (hopefully) be baby!!

Thanks Walrozz!! Want to go about things the right way
  • I wish you the best of luck! I've walked those very long miles that you both are taking on! I've had a miscarriage and still birth related to an abrution and both after years of infertility. No one could give me answers as to why I was having trouble conceiving and why I lost 2 pregnancies. So I started my weight loss journey and that was 5 yrs ago. In July of 2013 I had lost a total of 130 lbs and had ran my first 5k. And then after 3 years of thinking I wouldn't have a child, I found out I was pregnant.

I gave birth to a bouncing baby boy in April of 2014. So it is very possible! I can't say if my wt loss was a contributing factor but it has helped with carrying, labor and chasing a very active baby! Now if I could just lose the 30lbs I gained that would be fantastic!

Good luck and you can do it!
