Help logging food weighed with food scale

Hi all - sorry if there is already a thread relating to this, I have searched (and even googled!) but couldnt see anything that answered my question.
Ok, so after advice from people on here I have purchased a food scale, yay! Now my question is this, say I have this banana and I have just weighed it - its 120g. Previously I would just type in banana and choose like 'Banana - medium, raw', but now what do I do? I obviously want to make sure that I am logging the correct amount of calories and macros etc for the specific weight of the banana, so how do I do this?
Also, when weighing do I take in to consideration things like packaging or the skin on the banana etc?
Im a total food weighing noob so if theres like a 101 on this somewhere that would be great!
Thanks

Personally, I don't weigh whole fruits. I've logged the same "Dole Costco Banana 90 Calories" for 507 days now. I buy the big 'uns so I get the most banana for the cals
And please, please, don't eat the peel.0 -
Weigh the part of the banana you are going to eat. Type banana into your "add food" search. Then look for an entry (only have to do this once and it then becomes part of your file) that uses a weight and has some user verifications. I weigh most fruit and veggies in grams and the database has had all the entries I need.
If it is truly a food you can't find, you will need to google the nutritional information and make an entry yourself.0 -
There should be a different entry that measures in grams. The MFP entries usually say "1 banana" but you can also choose from the drop-down menu. I always pick the 100g and then enter the actual weight of my banana. (Just the fruit, not the skin!)0

Weigh the part you are going to eat, search for a data base entry 'banana, peeled' and enter in the weight of your banana.0

I usually type in the item name followed by the word "usda." It will usually give you the item you need then you can select the drop down units (for example 1 cup, 100g, or whatever). So if I am weighing a banana, I'll peel it then weigh it in grams. Say for example it's 120g, for serving size I'll type in 1.2 (if I use 100 grams as my unit). I hope that's not too confusing.0

so like they said, the bit you appear not to have spotted is the drop down menu next to many items allowing you to chose your portion definition, previously this migth have been serving, or banana, now you want to pick the one in g, 100g, or oz
then add the weight: if your peeled banana was 123g then if hte serving option is 100g you put 1.23 servings
SexyStef's post is great and has pictures

This might help but TL;DR version
Search for USDA entry or one without generic, an asterik or homemade in front of it or one with lots of confirmations and log it as 1.2 servings of 100g.
ETA: I see someone already gave yo u the link...0 -
Thanks all thats great, it was the say 1.2 as the serving part that I hadnt got...! Hopefully logging more accurately will give me a boost in the loss0

The 100g trick is pretty good. I use that for the things that have significantly varying sizes (in my opinion) such as sweet potatoes.0

if I can't find usda, or entry with lots of confirmations, I hit calorieking or some other site, to check if calories/grams match.0
