Currently weigh around 123lbs, want to lose 8 pounds but finding it so difficult! Normal weight is 114lbs, but have really put on a lot over the past year :(

What is the most effective way to lose this and the most realistic but quickest time scale? really getting me down! cant fit into half of my clothes anymore! :'(

Make sure you are eating in a caloric deficit. This will be the most effective way to lose the weight. Use a food scale and measure out all of your foods and liquids. Avoid gimmicky diets that make fast promises. Those results are most likely water weight and are temporary. With only 8 pounds to go, I'd suggest setting MFP to do a pound a week.

If you are 123 you are within the "normal" weight range for your height.

^^This. Odds are you don't need to lose weight, but rather do a little recomp. Modest deficit, exercise, and not concentrating on the "quickest" way, but the most effective.

Sadly, there is not a quick and easy way to lose fat. Sure, you can drop water weight or do a crash type of diet and lose weight, but chances are you'll gain it all back just as fast. To truly lose weight and keep it off you have to consume less calories then you're burning. A healthy amount would be between .5 and 2lbs a week. You don't have much too lose so I think if you stick to this you can lose those 8 pounds in a few months or less.

Eat in a deficit and you'll lose. There is no "quick" here. Such a small amount will be gone in no time.

And hair. Remove all body hair. That should give you a few oz.

This is the only 'quick' way. As others have said, calorific deficit and a bit of exercise and conditioning. With only that to lose you should be aiming for half a pound a week.

I think he was making a pretty valid point.

You probably didn't put the weight on in a few days - you yourself said it was over the "past year" - you're not going to lose it that fast.

If you're worried about how clothes fit, don't worry about quick weight loss. Losing weight quickly will probably lead you disappointed when you still can't fit into those clothes in the end. Why? Well, you're a healthy weight and losing quick means muscle loss.

I'd pick up some form of resistance training. Ideally weightlifting and get a good amount of protein. Aim to lose .5 lb a week and retaining your lean mass. You may find you don't even need to lose an arbitrary scale number to fit into those pants.

No one knows how much you weigh and while the scale has its place to judge some form of change, measurements and mirror are what we see.

Quick is never a good idea.

In the meantime, drink some tea and a ton of water. You will "lose weight" (meaning pounds on the scale, not actual fat) quickly and your clothes may fit a tiny bit better if you shed some water you are retaining.

Losing 8 pounds of body fat at your size will likely take at LEAST 3 months if you do it sensibly and sustainably. So, go with that.

The quickest way is to just quit eating for two weeks. But it isn't advisable.

In addition to what everyone else said.... You're 22 years old. Your body is still changing. What your "normal" weight used to be, might have been the normal weight for you as a teenager, not as an adult woman. That's why juniors clothing is cut differently from misses clothing.
