Choices, Bro, right.
You CAN resist ... you just WONT. By *choice*.0 -
So fit your scotch into your calories if you have to have it!0

I use to be the same, I would drink about 6oz of vodka everyday because it really relaxed me. But, then I read an article that alcohol can decrease fat burning by 70%. That was enough of a wake up for me to quit the next day. Try to restrict yourself to only drinking on Sundays or Saturday's. If you can't do that then you need to stop completely because then you've created a dependence on alcohol and that's not healthy. It can be done, stay strong.0 -
Idk if this will help, but in my personal experience I found that alcohol throws me off. If I could drink just one or two on occasion and fit it into my goal for the day, that would be great. But I can't. Every time I say to myself "treat day" and start, then the downhill for days to follow come. It's been a practiced art for me to analyze my feelings while I am doing what I know works for me, how I feel at the end of the day, when I eat, how I enjoy (or not) regular things in my day to day life. I know I feel awesome when I accomplish my day correctly. Good Luck 2 U:)0

Same for me, I liked my drinks everyday but then I restricted it to Sundays only. After that I started feeling like trash on Mondays when I went to the gym so I stopped drinking completely. I'd rather performance and results instead of a temporary "fix".0 -
Scotch is delicious.
You don't have to be sedentary. You can add small exercises to your desk-bound workday, and lazy when you get off work is a choice that's easy enough to change.
Move more, limit your scotch to one carefully measured drink per day (or every other day) and make it fit your caloric allotment.

So...change!0

You can't have your cake and eat it too...
Or you can, if that cake is measured and put into your calorie allotment and you move more to accommodate it.

Standard measure of scotch is 55 so a large would be 110 calories
30 min lunchtime walk at 3.5mph = approx 100 calories
I am finding it difficult to see the problem0 -

@rabbitjb - I couldn't agree more! If you want it, make it work!0 -
Then fit it in. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to.0

So comforting to hear this. It's taken me time to understand "how I work" and not go by what I thought was the "norm". I would always feel left out, but I would not feel good about myself when I did drink. I know I feel great when I do my walks and each day it becomes a contest to see how many more I can add to my diary. I have noticed that when my hubby is drinking his "tall one" in the sun and I am marching out my steps in our driveway, that I am not left out. "this is my buzz". That being said, there are days when my brain plays tricks on me and I feel deprived from something. These are becoming fewer and far between:)
I see some people can work the drink into their plan and that's great for them if they are truly feeling good about it. But for me, I have seen the trend that it does not work for me. Move, move, move and count my calories = good feelings, better sleep and a better relationship with the world around me. I wish I felt this way everyday, but since I am human I have been learning "urge surfing", which for me is distracting myself till the urge goes away. It gets easier and more gratifying with time and practice.
To the OP, if you feel like it's messing with your journey try something different. I understand change (at first) is uncomfortable, but analyze how you feel in that change and how you feel when you go back to the old routine. Maybe you'll find the balance when you can have your scotch, or not:) Best of luck and Blessings to you!
