WEIGHT LOSS VS. BODY MEASUREMENTS

Okay. I Jumped on the scale this morning (just knowing that I dropped a pound or so), but interpreted very disturbing results. I've been working out (avg. 45 mins, 5 days a week; burning around 400 calories or so) & eating right (under calorie goal; meeting protein & nutritional goals), but I gained a pound. This is my 2nd continuous week. I lost 4lbs the 1st week. Can someone please give me direction on how to precisely take my body measurements? I know to measure my shoulder, waist, and hip girth; but I do not know exactly where (what part of the arm, at the navel of the stomach....)
BTW: Twice a week I work out for 20 mins on the treadmill in the morning & 40 mins or so w/my Wii Fit in the evening. The remainder of the week, i use the Wii Fit for about 40-50 mins.
Confused! o_O

This should help: http://ocs.landsend.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/corpsales/CSM_HTML_HOW_TO_MEASURE.d2w/report?store_name=corpsales#wmtop
Also, a quick and dirty method is to try on the same clothes weekly to see how they fit. When they get too loose, try new clothes.0 -
So is this your second week for working out/eating right? It could be a hump some people go through around the 2nd week. You could also be building muscle. All I know is, if you're exercising and eating right, don't stop! It'll pay off soon. As far as measuring your waist, it's the smallest part of your torso. For some people it's around the navel, for some people higher up. For your hips, it's the biggest part around. I think for most people this is around or below the hip bones and usually around the butt. I hope that helps!0

JUST KEEP GOING! I went through this too, many people here have. Just keep going, break that mental barrier and keep focused...it will work!0

Thanks for the body measurements link. Although you were sending it to someone else, it really helped me too.0

Thx You Guys,
I got it: Muscle Gain/Swelling, Water Retention, and/or Plateau.
Your words are encouraging. The websites were spot on.
The “Clothing Regimen” is very insightful. Trying on the same clothing and knowing which areas’ are looser, smoother, or tighter will result in some Major Self Satisfaction.
Thanks again for all of your support and knowledge. :-)0 -
