I just found out yesterday that I was pregnant. Soo I am guesstamating that I am anout 6 weeks in. I don't want to be one of those pregnant women who gain a ton of wait and get out of shape. Soo I have been looking for exercise ideas. I know that I can walk, swim and some light aerobics. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

I took a prenatal yoga class when I was pregnant with my son, and it was awesome!! I felt so much better through that pregnancy and labor/delivery, than I did with my daughter. I highly recommmend it.

It depends on how active you were before the pregnancy so I would consult with your doctor on this. Also, I wasn't that active before my last pregnancy and I mainly stuck with fresh fruit, veggies and ice water during my last pregnancy and exercised daily with a pregnancy video I found online (30 mins) and I did great with my weight. Good luck and congrats!

I did yoga while pregnant and LOVED it! I ended up having to have an emergency c section, but I bet if I didn't it would have came in handy during labor!! (: Congrats!!!

    Congratulations!
You still have 72 pounds to lose, right? If you make sure you eat right and you get in some good activity, the weight that you gain could be solid baby!
(Success story: Friend of mine, 5'3", age 33, and weight of 160, gained only 16 pounds during her pregnancy, and lost it all in the first week.)
I kow you say "I know I can walk... and stuff" but really, the best possible thing is walking. And I mean lots of it! Not at a high pace or anything, but if you tell yourself that you'll get in 4 to 8 miles of comfortable walking a day, thats great! And I mean at "hey, I'm going on a nice walk to look at the trees" rather than an excercise walk. Basically, the best thing anyone can say is keep active. You can lift dumbbells (barbie style), but stay away from the heavy machinery.
And talk to your doctor. He might have some good ideas.

Yep! I know quite a few runners who kept running through their pregnancy, up to 5-6 months and one lady up to the day she delivered. They did not do the distance and went slower, but they just kept doing what they liked. Their physicians all approved and encouraged them to do what they felt comfortable doing. They also did not have any complications with the pregnancy that would have prevented it.

my sister-in-law speed-walked a marathon two weeks before her due date and ran a 5k on her due date. the next day, she went into labor that only lasted 3 hours! she was up and doing stair sprints before the end of that day. really, you can do anything you were doing before you were pregnant. of course, she is a rock star, so maybe take it easier than her. lol.
