I feel so guilty about not working out today but my head hurts, I can't stop coughing & I'm nauseous. How do I get rid of this cold? I can't miss another day of the gym

    It's okay!

Sometimes the body needs that break to rest!

Drink fluids and get some rest. Hope you feel better!

I aim for 5 days a week and colds usually last days. I was doing so well and I was very proud of myself so this is really getting to me:-(

You're welcome- I had gotten the flu earlier this year and took a full week off. It sucked, but my body was very thankful for it.

health should be your priority, staying healthy means you have to let your body rest and recover when its sick, there is no reason to feel guilty at all

"Life" happens. Usually not always the way we want it to. Just take care of yourself and work out when you think it's ok. Forgive yourself...you got this <3 !!

You are sick, no need to feel guilty about not making it to the gym.

Gym goers do not want or need someone coughing all over the equipment, nor do they want anyone who is potentially going to vomit everywhere.

Take time to get better please and do the other members a favour stay away.

Rest up and let your body recover. Forcing yourself to work out when ill could delay your recovery, so just let it run its course. Keep up the fluid intake and eat as/when you feel up to it.

You can miss as many days as it takes to get you well again. feeling guilty is pointless. Focus on getting better, research some new routines, but get some perspective, these things happen and its to be expected as part of a much longer journey.

You'd be doing more harm than good trying to work out whilst ill. Your performance would suffer, and you'd likely make your illness worse and hamper recovery. It's not about quantity when it comes to exercise time, you don't need to be doing this every day. Rest days are vital even when you're well. Take time to repair and recover, come back stronger.

If you are here to get healthy then part of that is learning to take appropriate rest. It's great to make it to the gym 5 days per week, but there are times when going to the gym is more unhealthy than resting. When you are sick is one of those times. It's one thing to go ahead when you've got a head cold(if you're not too miserable), but with nausea working out could have very unpleasant consequences, both for you and for the other gym patrons.

Thank you! I usually take Saturday and Sunday off but I guess it will have to wait. I don't want to feel worse
