I know i haven't been eating perfect, but i have never gained weight so fast as in the last 3 months. I started Alesse Birth Control pill to regulate cycles for pre menopause and ward off the hot flashes, but I really think it's made me gain weight. I went up 15lbs...i always stay within 5lbs max...i stopped it at the end of December as it's really upsetting me, my pants are all snug, pants i bought and put over top of my leggings at the store to try on...wtf. Hopefully things will go back to normal and with fitness pal and exercising regularily instead of occasionally i can get back into my pants.

They usually increase appetite, try drinking hot drinks like green tea or stock to keep you feeling full! :)

a lot of people think birth control causes them to gain weight but I think it just makes you eat more. if you haven't been eating more than you usually do then maybe its something to talk to your doctor about. I started depo a month ago and I don't eat as much as I did when I was on the pill. maybe its a mind thing too. good luck

Ask for a different prescription. I had one that raised my blood pressure, problem went away when we switched it out.

I agree it was the pill. I was having the same issue and my weight was more in body fluid and it was not until I was in my 40s. I stopped taking it a year ago and I am down almost 15 Lbs. I wish I would have stopped taking it years ago.

I know this is late but yes, I was on Loestrin a couple of years ago and gained over 20 pounds and then when I switched to Mirena and lost all of that weight and now I am trying Alesse (because of personal issues with the IUD) and I have noticed my weight go up and my appetite is insatiable! I still work out but all I want to do is eat! I know studies have apparently shown that there isn't a correlation, but I wonder then why it is listed on the side effects. Anyway, I'm facing the same issue and I am about to just give up all birth control and see what happens in terms of my appetite!
