Does coffee count for water?

Do other beverages such as coffee, tea, milk,etc. count towards water?

    I think you get to do what seems right to you. This has been asked before and brings out a lot of differing opinions. Personally, I count a mug of coffee or tea (10-12 ounces, not sure) as 1 cup of water. I don't count milk because I don't drink it - bleh! On the rare occasion that I drink a diet soda, I don't count that as water. Mostly, I count water as water.

    No. Coffee has calories, some teas (depending on what's in them) have calories, milk has calories, etc. You count it as what it is or you'll be cheating yourself. Log water as water.

    Not to mention most of those mentioned have caffeine, which is a diuretic. I'm not against caffeine, but it can lead to dehydration. Additionally, I would not count diet soda like water either for the same reason.

    Studies have shown that one (8oz) cup has minimal to no diuretic effects. So yes, if you only have one cup! Tea for sure counts too :)
