Can red wine be classed as one of your five a day

Here in Britain we are reminded to take our five a day. Five fruit and vegetables are needed for healthy living.
So today has been a great day. Kept within the daily limit and burnt loads of calories through exercise. The balance is such that I can enjoy a glass or two of red wine and still be within budget.
Then I came to thinking that since red wine is made from grapes, it can be classed as a fruit by product right ? So it counts as one of my five a day right ?
Hmm, and by logic, if I have five glasses of red wine then surely I can say I have had my five a day ?

If your goal is to give yourself a gold star or pat on the back for meeting some arbitrary goal...sure, knock yourself out.

If your goal is to actually...yanno...get the vitamins/nutrients that are the reason multiple servings of fruits & veggies a day is recommended, then no. You're not going to fool your body into thinking wine suddenly has a ton of vitamins.

That said - if you have the room in your calorie & macro breakdown, I don't see any reason NOT to have a glass of wine (or two.)

I think a glass or two of wine is good for the soul. One of my pleasures in life is enjoying wine so I am so happy to learn that I can have a glass or two.

have a glass because you enjoy it and it fits in your daily goals.

not because its made from fermented grapes and you're trying to count it as a fruit/veggie serving. im not sure it works that way LOL

I think calorie restriction makes some people cranky.

And it should definitely count as a fruit.

According to the following, Red Wine doesn't have as many vitamins as fruit--but it beats most sodas and does have health benefits! It's fine if it fits your micros/macros. :)

Wine does not contain much in the way of vitamins. Each glass of red wine gives on average the following of your daily, nutritional needs: 1% Vitamin K, 1% Thiamin, 2% Niacin, 3% Riboflavin and 4% Vitamin K. Trace amounts of minerals are also found in wine. Each glass of wine gives close to the following percentages of your daily adult requirement of minerals: 1% Calcium, 1% Copper, 1% Zinc, 3% Phosphorus, 4% Iron, 4% Magnesium, 5% Potassium and 10% Manganese.

If you can count wine as fruit, can I count walking from the freezer to the sofa with a bowl of ice cream in my hand as weight lifting ?

Does the bowl have mass? Are you lifting it? Well, there you go.

I'm planning on having some merlot tonight... So it's now going to be one of my 5 a day lol.

I also am home 5 days out of the week, so I'm usually in PJs, or workout gear. Those 2 other days are tricky because I have to pretend I'm an adult and wear real people clothes. On the plus side, it makes it easier as I lose weight because I don't have to worry about my clothes getting too big as much!

err I hate to ask this but can cider also be classed as one of my five a day ? I had a bottle of my brothers homebrew cider which I indulged in last night. Cider is made from apples right ? Apples is a fruit right ?
