So, I tried the baby-steps thing, and just dipping my toe in the water. Now it's time to cannonball.

I'm Meg, always busy, usually social, vertically challenged, and working on getting back in shape. Wanna be buddies? I'm not on a lot, but I welcome getting to know new people.

I'm not sure if I'm a nerd that teaches belly dance on the side, or a belly dance instructor, that nerds out on the side, but I've got my bases covered. With a local live "game show', internet marketing consulting, and a great group of dance students (oh, and soon to add zumba) - you'd think I'd have this weight thing tackled.

Not quite.

My food issues and stress management tend to get the better of me, but that's why this site is so helpful! Time to be honest about everything, even when I have chocolate for breakfast, or a beer at dinner. No guilt or blame, just love and honesty, really.

My friends have called me a muse - that I'm able to inspire, and encourage great things from other businesses and people, but then tend to not pull it out of myself. So, time for adding some self-love, self-inspiration, and the biggie: self-responsibility.

Who's with me? Feel free to add!

Meg

I, myself, am cannonballing back into weight loss. My previous feeble attemps have resultied in the scale creeping slowly upward. I am a certified Zumba instructor though I have not actually taught a class, yet. I love belly dancing, also.
Feel free to add me as a friend.

    Hey

I'm newish to the site too, only on day 5. I started off needing to lose 10lb and now need to lose 100lbs, not proud of this but I did it and I have to deal with it.

I have decided never to diet again and am simply doing what I will Munch Monitoring - trying to be more aware of what I eat and how much, had been going well this week

BUT made the fatal mistake tonight of sitting infront of the TV with a packet of something :grumble: (caramel flavoured rice cakes), sadly the packet is no more

Soooooo do I feel bad, yeah a bit, what did I learn? Apart from the fact I like to crunch???? I learnt I should take one or two pieces and put the packet back in the cupboard, cos when distracted I munch, especially in front of the TV

But ya know it wasn't a box of truffles and a bottle of wine and a bag of crisps, so I'm calling it progress. I ain't gonna beat myself up about it, I am in this for the long haul and as lady who loved a challenge once said 'tomorrow is another day'!

So yeah I am with you self responsiblity, inspiration and love allllll around its the only way to progress:happy:

    Nice to meet you, Keely,

Munchin' is something I'm all too familiar with. I'm a grazer. I like a little of this a little of that. But if I'm not paying attention to eating, I can easily put away a whole bag of chips (or crisps as you'd say!). Last year, I would literally sit through the Biggest Loser watching them work out and filling my own belly with junk. I knew better, but did it anyway.

What I'm trying to do, and maybe this will help you, is if you're going to be sitting and watching a show:

    1. Have a bag of something healthy to crunch on. Like Sugar Snap Peas. (I add soy sauce when craving a salty snack.) or Carrots. If you demolish the bag, at least it's something healthy for you. (Though if you have diabetes, limit the carrots to just a handful, a whole bag can really spike blood sugar levels.)

    2. Don't sit through commercials. If you have weights, stand up, and do bicep curls and tricep extensions until the show is back on. If you don't have weights, just do the movement with nothing in your hand, or use two bottles of water, then drink them when the show's done. Dance, walk around the room, anything. As long as you're off the couch.

(FYI don't mean to preach, I struggle with this too, hope my solutions help you some.)

Thanks Meg, all advice/ tips are gratefully recieved, I will be trying the bowl of veggies option this weekend.

I have decided to take your advice and dance like a loon to the TV adds:laugh:

Teenager will just looooove that one (he thinks its my new role in life to cause him maximum embarrassment :embarassed: with minimum effort at the mo!)

I am not yet ready to shake my considerable booty in front of strangers yet, so I've sent off for the Wii Zumba so I can try it at home. I am an exercise phobe but like all women everywhere I love to dance.

I am back on track this morning and off to do my 30mins exercise for the day (combined with a little retail therapy).

Still learning how to use this site, so bare with me. Keep the faith friend:flowerforyou:
