overweight and attempting insanity

I am 5'10" and weigh 239. I've lost 21 pounds and bought insanity as an indoor workout due to bad weather. Just did the fit test and enjoyed it but it sure kicked my butt, and I wasn't even able to do very may reps. Tips, past experiences and whatsoever else welcome. Did I waste my money? Or can insanity help me?

Any movement adding to your activity is useful. If you can't complete it in its entirety just look at as something to aim for. You started it, you did it but always always regardless of what it is change it if you feel like it's a chore. Do what rocks your boat!0

I'm on my last day of Insanity today. My opinion is anyone can do this if they have the right mental attitude. My tips for success with this program are,
1. Stay positive & play the DVD every day, even if you don't feel like it.
2. Don't ever be intimidated by speed/ability of the folks on the DVD. Go at your own pace, if you are moving your body and trying as hard as you can you will soon adapt.
3. Listen to Shaun T! Keep good form, even if it means you can only do a few reps. You will improve quickly. Bad form will lead to injury.
4. Eat well, nourish your body with good food. I didn't stick religiously to the nutrition plan but I ate mainly clean. You need to keep your energy up so don't waste calories on junk.
5. Enjoy yourself! You will love the results if you stick with it. You can do this!
Good luck!

You definitely did NOT waste your money. Insanity isn't easy for anyone when they're starting out, overweight or not. Do what you can, and aim to do a little more each time. It's tough, plain and simple. You've got this!!!0

Thanks so much! I'm on day 3, ans sooo sore. You know how many muscles it takes to get outta bed?! I will not stop!! I'm eating some of the meals in the book and all naturally peanut butter is....not what I expected. I'm enjoying the challenge!0

Trust me, this was money well spent! They advertise it as being one of the toughest work outs on the market so don't expect it to br a walk in the park! Its hard even for those extra fit people in the video (notice not a single one of them makes it through the whole routine without an extra break). I did my first 60 day set of insanity a year ago and had incredible results. I was not very fit in the beginning either. Just push yourself every day and make sure to take good care of your body - make sure you do listen to your body if you are feeling close to injury take a rest day. If you just do what you can and focus on doing it right rather than just fast the results will begin right away and you will get better! I took a break from doing it for a few month and started again last month. This week was my first week of Max...ugh. I'm cursing at Shaun t on a regular basis again! Feel free to add me if you need any motivation!0

I started a month ago. I've lost 20 lbs. and 13 inches. I restarted month one because I know I cannot do the Max stuff yet. I am now able to do all of the exercises though, so after this month I may move on to the max stuff I heavily modified everything in the beginning...i couldn't even do the butt kicks!!

Form, form, form...this is important for any exercise. Do what you can even if that means modifying the moves so that you can do them. You will slowly get stronger and as funny as it sounds, more comfortable and become more confident in your moves. They may knock out 10 moves to your 3, hit rewind and do another 3. It'll take longer than normal but within a few weeks you won't be hitting remind as much, even with modified moves. Good luck.0
