KICKING THE OLD PLATEAU IN THE REAR

Have you been through a frustrating time where you are not losing any weight? You weigh yourself and it's playing see-saw with your eyes, your mind and your body by rising up & down, up & down, then, again & again. It makes you feel like screaming, right?
I went through that nonsense for nearly 3 solid months. Every day, I accurately weigh/measure/level off all excess quantities/record every single item that goes in my mouth. Regularly, I try to get enough cardio each week to keep my heart up to target rate for at least 30 minutes.
For three consecutive days, I was hoofing it into town by race walking to get my errands done (a 4-5 mile round trip depending upon how much window-shopping I do around the stores). This morning, I stepped on the digital scale as usual, two hours after taking my one pill (to give it time to work well). Here we go again: UP 1.5 lbs.
I was telling my best friend (on the phone) who was the one who trained me in the Coronary Care Unit in Arizona many years ago about the problem. She is far more knowledgeable about exercise physiology and the body's response & defense system as we're trying to lose weight. As an aside, one of the three sons she raised played professional, major league sports for 10 years as well as having played his sport throughout his growing years so she has first hand knowledge of what she speaks.
WHY IT HAPPENS: When a person is on a weight loss program AND is diligently exercising regularly, like doing some heavy duty race walking, the body protects those muscles by surrounding them with heavy amounts of FLUID~~~big time WATER RETENTION. Given time, the body will realize that it's "normal" for this person and, eventually, it will release it's protective "water cushion" from those muscle tissues. Then, VOILA~~~the weight will drop.

Does this also happen when you drink close to a gallon of water daily as well... I am ashamed to say this but I plateaued 4 years ago. I lost from 278lbs to 204. I stopped, just stopped. Unlike so many other attemps, gaining it all back I managed to keep it there for a while... I lost a dear niece who was like a daughter to me to diabetes 2 yrs ago and 16 lbs crept back on i am sure due to stress and grief.... I started with MFP 47 days ago and lost 8 lbs and it quit again. just wondering if it applied when you are drinking a significant amount of water.0
