Hi I am a 50 yr old single widowed mom of a special needs child. I also battle my own disability. Not trying to be on the pity pot but have become completely dependent on comfort foods. I find myself giving up on every diet I try. Hoping to hook up with others fighting to keep from drowning like myself.

Thank you. I started my day with a brisk walk. Gave me a great boost in my selection of food today. :)

Some times it is real easy to eat the wrong things and not even realize it. I hope you are at least writing down what you eat. Then as you are comfortable with tracking your eating you can figure out the calories etc and where you can improve. Baby steps you know. You have this You can do it

Welcome. I wish you all success. Willpower is a muscle easily worn out. So don't over-strain it too much to begin with. Log all the food you eat, and allow yourself some of the comfort foods you have enjoyed all along. I suggest that you rather consider cutting down and replacing the comfort foods slowly.

I suspect you are stress eating. Perhaps diarizing your mood and the circumstances when you eat will give you further insight in to when and why you go to your comfort foods.

Then you can slowly wean yourself away from the old reasons, replacing old habits with new. I think it is important not to simply cut out what you did before, but replace with new activities. The walk, for instance, is a great way to relieve stress and is much healthier for you.

Make a list of other stress-busting activities that you can do. When you are tempted to raid the fridge yet again, go to that list and do something else instead.
