Embarrassed to ask but I have to know

Okay, this is kind of a personal question, but I'll ask it anyway. Can exercise lengthen the time of a menstrual cycle? I always, always, ALWAYS was a 4 day person. I just started at the gym on Mother's Day...it started that day, and I'm still on it. It's been 6 days. Is this normal? I've been doing crunches. Will this lengthen it? I have no idea who to ask, so I'm hoping someone on here will know. Oh yes, I've exercised every day. Thanks.

Sometimes drastically changing your diet or exercise can cause fluctuations in your hormones which can cause some changes in your monthly cycle. If your cycle lasts more than 7 days or you have very heavy flow for more than that time, talk to your doctor as something else more serious may be going on.0

Not as far as I know. I'm not sure why your period is going longer than usual. Strange...0

I have not noticed exercise lengthening it for me. It does help with cramps and moodiness. However, I think there is a correlation between how much water I drink and length of my period. It just seems to me the more water I drink the longer it lasts. I could very well be wrong about that. But mine is goofy now anyway.

My cycle changes as my weight does and for me, exercise actually seems to shorten it.0

I think it's possible you are having a mild hemmorage from exercising too much. Try cooling it for a day and it should go away. When you have TOM your body is already under stress and if you are exercising too vigorously that can happen....I googled it haha! BTW this doesn't mean to never exercise during your period ever again, it's just you shouldn't be over doing it. Hope that helps, good luck!0

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.0

My cramps, flow and consistency of flow (watery, heaviness...TMI, I know) all were effected by my diet and exercise.0

*not a medical specialist* just been there recently.....
I doubt it is the exercise. You do need to get to the gynocologist, there are some pretty nasty things such changes could be. There are also, and much much much more likely, normal and/or not so scary stuff that can happen to cause that . :) Best to know/detect early either way.
PM me if you want......0
