Can i get some help! I'm trying hard to lose weight, trying to count calories but the problem I face is my job. I work on a tow boat, I live one it for 28 days at a time. While I'm on the boat I have no say in what food gets prepared and have to either eat it or go hungry which is also not going to help me loss weight. how could I make the right choice in what I'm eating, from what I get to choose from ?

If you want to lose weight just eat less of the foods you regularly eat. Do they cook healthy meals on the boat, or empty calorie junk type foods?0

Some is healthish, and I stay away from as much fries foods as possible along with potatoes and bread. I'm job is very physical and I also do 30 to 40 min of weight training on certain days and 40 min of yoga a day. I still have not lost hardly any weight like 2 pounds in a month. Idk feel really discourage.0

Maybe get yourself a set of digital kitchen scales and weigh everything you eat and try and find the closest match in mfp's database. It makes it much more difficult to be accurate when someone else is making the meals.0

You do have a challenge but it's not impossible. If you're determined and stubborn it can be done. It will have to be dependent on your portion control. You may also be a good candidate for meal substitutes although they are not something I'd usually recommend. I image there's always a big bag of salad in most catering fridges. Cut the fat off your meat and grab a big side salad.
I'd try and speak to whoever does the shopping to make sure there's always plenty of salad, fruit and veg. Good luck0 -
My brother works on a small tug. He convinced the captain to let him do the shopping and cooking.
Listen, it is o.k. to eat the potatoes and even the bread some days. I would agree that it is good to limit the fried foods and the deserts.
You could lose weight if you eat less that what you are eating now. Even if it is a little bit less a day, you will lose weight -- even if it is not as fast as you want to.
What do you eat when you are home? ?0 -
You only have 40 lb to lose, so 2 pounds in a month is actually not bad! Still, I remember when I went out on a 2 week trip and had no access to internet or had any say in foods I'm eating I would just put my usual portion in the plate minus about 1/8 or 1/4 of it - so just a smaller portion than usual, just eyeballing. It worked out perfectly!0
