Hey everyone,

I'm eating out with a friend tonight at a thai restaurant. i cant find any info any where regarding the calorie content of the food. i have put a link for the menu on here and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice for what might be the more healthier options for me

Thanks

In general though, Satay is a good bet, you grill it yourself tableside. Maybe a dinner salad, or one of the grilled or veg entrees. Mainly, watch your portion size. Take at least half home, for leftovers.

I usually get Chicken Basil. Not too high in calories - I think it's like 500 cal for 1.5 or 2 cups (it's in the MFP database). I also get tea before my meal so I get a sort of filling feeling before I get my food arrives.

mmm, I love love love Thai food. I recommend the soups. My personal favorite is roasted duck noodle soup. The noodles are mixed with bean sprouts, the broth is flavored with anise and basil, and I get spicy level 5 (on a spicy scale 1 to 10 - 1 being not spicy, 10 being super ridiculously hot spicy). It's incredibly delicious. Yum. Now I'm hungry. Anyway, the chicken noodle soup is good too (made the same) but I prefer the roasted duck even though there's a bit more fat involved. If you're watching your fat, go with the chicken.

I bet the Thai Fisherman Soup wouldn't be too bad as it appears to be made without coconut milk. (Coconut milk is about 550 calories a cup, I believe.) I ate Thai yesterday and had a great simple soup of chicken, shrimp, some veggies and rice noodles in broth. Reminded me more of a pho. I left a portion of the noodles behind and felt like I did okay with that. (Which the scale agreed with this morning.)
